There are a lot of crazy ways to cook bacon, but after lots of research (we've eaten A LOT of bacon, guys, we've determined the smartest to cook slices is in the oven: there's less mess, it makes serving bacon to a crowd SO easy, and the results are just as crispy. There are a few exceptions to this rule. First, if you're cooking only a couple slices, a skillet is easier. Second, if saut-ing bacon is a step in a recipe that leads to something else being cooked in the bacon fat (like this, follow the directions. Don't go rogue and bake instead. But in 80 percent of all breakfast scenarios, the oven method works best. Here's how to perfectly cook bacon in the oven every single time. How to make bacon in the oven Miss: In a 400 degree preheated oven using a sheet pan lined with foil and parchment paper. NO RACK IN THE PAN! Bake for 20-25 minutes (varies by brand, but I start checking at 20 minutes) and drain bacon on paper towels. Perfectly crispy and evenly cooked every time!

The preffered method for me is a cold pan low and slow draining the fat after every two batches. Downside is it takes an hour plus to make 1. 5- 2. 0 lb package of bacon but it leaves very little mess nor does it smoke the house up. The oven method greases the entire oven up and then requires a complete cleaning before using the oven again.

This level of shrinkage is probably due to the curing method of the bacon used, probably injected with water. Does not seems to me a dry cured bacon, mainly because of the microwave method, which drains a lot of water really fast. A dry cured bacon wouldn't shrink that much. But bacon is bacon, anyway. And dry cured is better.

Someone said, If you put bacon in a cold frying pan and cover the bacon with water, it would be the best but I have not tried it yet. I always use the micro oven and I think the reason it comes out small and crinkled is because the fat is dissolving and that's a good thing. I will try the above method and let you know. Blessings.

Wish Lena would have demonstrated the water method mentioned in the description box. Love to hear her opinion. I do cold pan, medium heat. topped with a splatter screen. I'm a clean-up-as-I-go kind of guy and it most definitely helps. -

I like my bacon chewy. I think I want to try the oven method with the cooling rack. I've tried it in the oven where the bacon cooks in the fat, and it was good depending on the amount of time I left it in.

Always use a microwave to cook our bacon. Easy to clean up. Easy to adjust cooking time to get the right amount of crunch. We use a special bacon tray that is microwave safe. Have vid of how to do it.

I don't like bacon either nor do I like pork chops. But I LOOOOVE trotters (pig's feet. Weird I know. But trotters are just so sticky and gelatinous and delicious ----

Add cracked pepper to bacon that'll cook in the oven and lose the rack. Works better with the thick cut bacon. 375 for 18 minutes. You won't be sorry.
