Wow - I feel privileged just getting into the first 200 comments. but Chef John - honestly? Truly horrifying? Not sure of the crowd today, but liver (chicken, beef, etc) was a staple when I grew up. not sure what is so horrible about taking a bit of it and chopping. NOW, on the other hand, if it were gizzards. :)Thanks for the great recipe (yet again, and will be making soon. Keep going

If you're gonna trick your friends, make sure none of them keep Kosher because chicken liver is kind of complicated to keep Kosher due to its high blood content. If you know no one keeps Kosher, no worries, go for it as long as you're confident that you won't lose friends over it. TBH you probably shouldn't trick anyone into eating anything cause consent is important.

Ewwwwww liver. You ruined a perfectly good dish with vomitus eruptus inducing liver. Run for the hills Sorry Chef you can't trick a liver hater. We ALWAYS know when people try to slip it in. LOLOL. I'll have to clean up this recipe before fixing an other wise great recipe. Wink wink.

I love Liver and Onions, I never pass them up. I've made many, many or your recipes since I found you a few years ago. This Dirty, Dirty Rice I won't be making, it's the Liver thing. All is well on the Southern Front. A quick Question; Do you have family in the Cayenne Pepper business?

For those with any issues with the livers, just remember any animal's liver is a super food and by eating the livers you pay more respect to the animal, instead of letting the livers become part of cheap hot dogs or whatever. Plus they taste good, really.

AWESOME dish, similar to my own version, but i leave out the innards. sure, it won't be exactly the same, but it's my personal preference. variation is the key to most of CJ's recipes aside from basic ingredients, so it's all good.

Makes me want to dance with Jennifer Grey, Chef John. Hey, this is kinda similar to the great West African iconic Jollof Rice. Do you think you could demonstrate that? I can never seem to get the rice right but the flavors are amazing.
