Learn how to make a Ben Franklin Breakfast Bowl Forget about the breakfast of champions, this raw apple, yogurt, and granola bowl is the breakfast of founding fathers Maikind K.: Hello Chef John, As someone who loves to cook and bake (Mom insisted we boys learn, and having grown up watching Julia Child, I drew one conclusion: most people who say they can't cook never had someone explain things to them in a simple way You do that for us, and it is wonderfulI love plain nonfat yogurt, and I use it especially in foods I make to be eaten the same day, since yogurt can run after a day or two. I use it in place of mayonnaise in egg salad and Waldorf salad. I love apples tooGreek Yogurt is good, only the ordinary kind has more tanginess, which I like better. Thank you again: you really enjoy cooking and teaching, and it is evident All the best

-wash the apple first. -add a little cinnamon at the end. -no home-made granola? i was expecting a granola recipe. -cutting the apple, i think i can do just as fast without wasting so much apple around the core. first, quarter the apple right through the core. (or make 6 wedges. then use a curved cut to remove the core bit from all the edges. then cut into pieces of the desired size. this renders more apple and less waste / core.

You actually shed weight pretty easy if you start the day with an apple. Even if you just take half or just a few bites (if/when you don't really feel like it. It makes a huge difference. Not sure what is in apple but it works. After that you can take whatever you like for breakie but start with apple. Happy Healthy New Year, Chef John xxx

adds nuts while saying dried fruit would add to many calories. not only would some cut up dried figs be delicious in there, the added fibre would help regulate blood sugar and keep you full longer; )sincerely, someone who's been annoyed for a long time at people demonizing fruit, especially while eating things like dairy

I made this this morning So so yummy I used greek joghurt, left out the cranola and toasted the nuts (hazelnut, almonds, walnuts and cashews) before sprinkling them on though. Also, I used some cinnamon and drizzled a little bit of honey over the joghurt for sweetness. So delicious

probably going to be that guy, but something with way more protein and less sugar is going to get you through the day better That's just be cutting sugar out of my diet though, lost about 10kg so far. Fruit still has sugar, natural or not, the it's all energy

I'm sure this is mighty tasty, and I intend to try it, but just out of curiosity, Chef J, how authentic is this? Would good ole beer-loving Ben have had access to yogurt? As you can tell, I'm kinda a food geek. Grassy ass and Happy New Year

Picked up the stuff to make this on my way home from the school run this AM and just finished a bowl of it. I think this will become my go-to breakfast as well. Very tasty and refreshing, with just a leeetle maple syrup on top. Thanks CJ

Mmmm Simple and delicious looking recipe. That's a winner For those of us who don't use grains, we could use an assortment of finely chopped nuts and seeds. And, yes, there IS something wrong with the occasional fast food breakfast
