Just tried this and all I can say is THANK YOU CHEF JOHN You're making a chef out of me because your videos are oh, so, tasty. I'm 64 and never really cooked much but after your Turkey Hasselback which I made this past Thanksgiving Day, my sister now wants me over for Christmas to do some more cooking. Everyone loved it. Now this fried cheese wonder is something I'm going to pass onto them as well.

Chef, even though I have been watching you for years, this is the first recipe of yours I have made because I was very hungry and had all the ingredients on hand (for this recipe who wouldn't) and I have to say I regret not making so many more of your dishes because the fried cheese egg toast is absolutely PHENOMENAL I look forward to trying so many more of your recipes in the future. This is beautiful in its simplicity I dashed to the kitchen, where I discovered a paucity (a big word I know) of shredded cheese. So I took three slices, Montery Jack, Swiss, and cheddar, and diced them up. I made a little lagoon in the middle, thinking I'd be smarter than the average chef. Alas, my lagoon setup melted. But hurrah because I chased that yolk back in the middle anyway.

I challenged you for years to make a recipe without leaning on cayenne pepper. and now you do. but instead you use. pepper flakes? What is this abomination? I can't believe I'm saying this but. can I have the cayenne back. please?

Please allow me to say thank you. My teen daughter was sweet enough to dig up a French toast recipe from your video archives and made me a delicious Mothers Day breakfast. She did this because she knows that youre my favorite chef. It was wonderful Also, she loves your recipes Me and my whole family adore you and your fantastic recipes

Youre a great chef and all. But do u make anything remotely healthy? Every dish is loaded with oil, butter, cheese or bread. Tastes great but seriously devastating to your health. Pls consider adding a few healthy recipes because most of the viewers here will gladly follow your recipes to the T without giving it much thought.

I hate you Chef John. I'm now addicted to making fried cheese egg toast dishes. I found it incredibly easy and fun to make but I crave it every 15 minutes. BTW I like to make mine with sourdough bread and garlic butter topped with some fresh green onions from my garden.

Oh man, this was so delicious. I switched the white cheddar for mozzarella and I added some grilled thin sliced ham under between the toast and fried cheese egg. I think next time I'm going to add more chili flakes to it because it's amazing. I may do this every week lol.

My daughter made this, came up with the idea herself, but she gave up on it when she discovered how hard it is to make sure the white is cooked. One goopy egg white will definitely make you decide to not eat that kind of egg again, at least in our experience
