Learn how to make Garlic Naan This easy to make flatbread is the reason Indian restaurants give you so much extra sauce when you order a curry. curtis shaw: Traditionally water is brushed to the bottom surface of the naan just before you place it on hot skillet. This step allows the dough to temporarily stick to skillet, and that extra water creates steam which makes the naan bit more tender. Also if you want to keep the naan fresh for long time, put some butter after you take them off skillet and pack in breathable cloth until they cool down. This stops the moisture evaporating off the naan. Use a large flat cast iron griddle instead of skillet. Don't use non-stick surface to bake naan.

My dough was way too dry People who made it successfully, did you follow Chef John's recipe exactly? I ended up adding like I think an additional cup of water to the dough to make it kneadable and it still was too dry and didn't really rise correctly. Tasted great and I'll definitely do this again but with more liquid to start.

Wonderful bread will have to say I had to sub sour cream for yogurt, wife ate the last of the yogurt, doh Did roll a bit thinner than 1/8 but cooked up to about 1/4. Reminded me of a pancake, soft, but had a wonderful chewy side to it. Can not have enough butter and garlic in one's life

Way too much work and time required for such a small amount of food to be practical for anyone other than a weird chef who can not speak so anyone can understand him -- and doesn't give a shit if they can or can not even after being told a thousand times

#FoodWishes: I put in some fresh parsley in the dough, please? How can I store these flatbreads, if at all? This amount of dough is way too much for just the both of us. Thank you for sharing this recipe Much love from Belgium

Does anyone know if dough like this freezes well, and if so, at what stage of rising? It would be great to make a few batches and after the first rise, roll them into balls and freeze. Would that work?

Just curious. how many found the flour to water ratio produced a very dry dough? This is my first try, but I had to add 1/4 cup water to even get the dough pliable. And yes, I added the yogurt and the butter.

FAKE DELICIOUS NANN: If your too lazy to make the bread (the nann dough ) then use a tortilla and the bubble come the same way and just cook it the same way and do the garlic butter the same too

This is so wrong. Don't be fooled people. This IS NOT NAAN. This is Chef John's rubbish food. Totally unhealthy. Nan is really healthy If you want to be fat like Chef John then go for his recipes.

Is there anyway I can use a keto sweetener instead of sugar and a keto option of flower (almond flour, coconut flour, etc) to substitute the all purpose flour? And if so, what do you suggest?
