These apple Cheddar twists come just in time for peak apple season, and the beginning of the holiday party season, and of course, it’s always cheese season. The filling tastes like apple pie, which pairs perfectly with the sharp cheddar. With all that goodness being delivered in a crispy, buttery pastry, this is a must-make snack.

Hi Chef John! You say grate your own cheese as pre grated cheese is covered with cellulose. What about frozen grated cheese like cracker Jack (we don’t get that here in the, I don’t know if Cracker Jack refers to the cheese or the brand that sells the cheese) anyhows, can we use frozen grated cheese And blue cheese, would that work

Question. when did Cheddar cheese become what it is now. nothing to do with the cheese made in Cheddar, Simerset. what is it actually, now Grate it manually. but still, is it anything in particular anymore These things are important!

Let's twist again, like we did last summer.
As for the celulose dust on cheese: I remember the ads, back in the 1970s, for Grape Nuts cereal, that featured Yule Gibbons, asking, Did you ever eat a pine tree How oddly prophetic.

Apple pie with cheese. an old Yorkshire combination. Also rich fruit cake( no icing nonsense), mince pies with it too. Preferrably Wensleydale cheese( old recipe, not modern attempts) or a white stilton.

I just bought those apples yesterday! Guess what I’m making tonight! Pillsbury makes triangle pastry although are for croissants! Could they work Oh I thought you said triangles not rectangles lol

Opportunity missed for a Chubby Checker reference upon twisting, and then missed a second time when you twisted them again!
I will need to try this with some bacon bits mixed into the apple mixture.

I never make a traditional apple pie without grating 5 y/o white cheddar cheese into it.
Thank you Chef for the recipe. Perfect for a warm summer's day with a glass of white wine.

I'd advise next time throw in 1/2 to 1 tsp of black pepper in with the mix. I know, sounds weird but for some reason it makes the apple taste even better along with the cheese and salt.

As a representative of Townsends, I humbly suggest some freshly grated nutmeg on these apple cheddar twists before baking. Looks like a great recipe Chef John!

And just as soon as we can twist, we will twist. And how many times is gonna be up to you. I mean you are after all, the Charlie Crist of how many times to twist.

I think you need to break out your dictionary and find the definition of the word center. LOL, that rack was most definitely not in the center of your oven!

The best Apple/ Cheese combination I know of is the Gala apple with Kerrygold Dubliner cheddar cheese. They're made for each other.

Saturday is game night. I always bake something. Looks like this will work! Tarts already going, so it will be a double whammy.

Can always tell Chef John made the baked fruit recipe when the fruit's cooked a little first. Extra step that adds a lot.
