I'm reminded of my Aunt from the Finger Lakes, NY area visiting us in North Texas. We took her to a Tex-Mex restaurant where she ordered a Guacamole Tostada. Then she asked for the Guac on the side, not fully understanding the concept. We held our comments after seeing the waiter's puzzled expression as he looked to us for help. Well, the look on her face when she received a small bowl of Guac with a bare tostada was priceless!

Just for the record, if you go to a self respecting Mexican store, they will have tostadas made by some small local business. They usually salt them and dry them under the sun before frying them. They do taste different than homemade. You don't have too but now you have the power to choose

Do not smack the avocado pit with the knife if you plan to try, foolishly once and yet again, to make it grow even though they are genetically modified not to propagate lest one should produce their own food.
If you buy organic avocados, you might have better success.

Does anyone have a suggestion for another recipe app since the allrecipes one got deleted? Hopefully an app that will last? Loosing all my recipes for everything I ve cooked in the last 10 years has, how shall I say? .. Nevermind, I probably shouldn t say it.

A shrimp taco is what I would consider a perfect food. It's got everything I'm looking for and it will never ever be an unattractive option. This looks fantastic, and I think it would transfer quite well to taco format.

Everyone who is drooling over this, obviously misses the tostada the Taco Bell stop serving in March 20 20. And they still refuse to bring it back which is ironic because they have all the ingredients. It's criminal.

Trying these this week. My genius idea of tostado. instead of deep frying tortillas - just put papadoms in sandwich press. Easier. Healthier. Different flavour of course but yummo

In Colombia ketchup is absolutelly mandatory. We use it all the time with shrimp ceviche. we call it shrimp coctail! Spread it on a soda cookie and you are golden!

another way to keep the avocado from turning brown is to put the pit back into the mashed avocado or guacamole. For some reason it keeps it from turning brown.

I deep fry and form a cup with the spider spatula thing. It makes a perfect cup. I like it like that it helps it from the ingredients spilling out a lil.
