I tried this recipe to the letter and it did not turn out well. I have no idea how did the pork in the video turn brownish even before adding the fish sauce, and even so I do not think the fish sauce will turn the meat that brown. It is like soy sauce had been added but it was not shown in the video. The meat looked no where near what was shown. Such a disappointment, this my first and last recipe tryout from her.

This is PERFECT! I just try it and it really goes well with just jasmine rice. I recommend that if you want to make it a little more spicy, try this. Chilli, garlic, sugar crush together in a mortar, add some lime juice and fish sauce. This will be the perfect sauce for this meal, in my opinion: D Thank you for sharing this nice meal.

My mom's version is very sweet and the sauce is thick. The egg is braised inside the liquid so it loses that egg smell. All that is left is sweet umami flavor. The sauce is almost like the Japanese fried wings sauce, Tebasaki

So this is the traditional dish the Vietnamese cook once a year to celebrate Vietnamese New Year! Using water-and-coconut-juice cooking technique, this dish served with mustard cabbage pickle, is truly healthy and delicious.

why don't you use the fish sauce in the marinade and stir quickly the marinated meat with a little bit of oil before cook it in coconut water. In that way the meat will be wonderfully cooked and have much more flavor.

Thuy, I always thought things like this never make it to restaurant menus, because it takes so long to prepare them. How does it work? You always have some prepared in advance and hope somebody will order it?

Beautiful recipe, Vietnamese cuisine (and asian cuisine in general) is fascinating. Looking forward to more and more videos! PS: You have such a delicate voice! Makes the whole experience so peaceful.

This is brilliant! The whole time I'm thinking I want to make this for my Dad. He's not as big on unfamiliar flavors but that dish looks like something he might be willing to try. Thanks Thuy!

This looks so good! For some strange reason I have to be very lucky to find pork belly around here but I'll try this recipe with other cuts. Hopefully it will turn this yummy.
