I used to make something similar that I've been thinking about lately. I thinly sliced sweet onions and soaked them in buttermilk, dredged in seasoned flour and dropped slightly smaller clumps into the fry oil.
A fried variety plate: these onions, fried dill pickles and fried zucchini. And Ranch, of course.

Oh Emm Gee, mouth is literally watering right now! I love onion fritters but have never used this technique before. (specifically with the mineral water) Am definitely making these tonight with our chicken wings and a movie. Thanks for sharing this awesome video with us xx (and the dip too)

And then die of a heart attack. Just go out and eat onion rings once a year. Don't learn how to do this at home, because soon you'll start frying everything. So unhealthy for your heart. No amount of a parsley garnish is gonna not make you look fat.

I used to eat something like this at a restaurant, growing up. They would fry these in a big metal basket and it would come out like a loaf. They did it separately with onions, potatoes or zucchini or you could get combos of them

WHOW YOU DID IT AGAIN I TRIED THESE AND THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY GREAT, I messed up a little should have made them a thinner they would have been more crunchy otherwise DELICIOUS. THANK YOU. JEFFERSON PARRISH

I followed the recipe but the clump of onion feel apart. it did not stay together. i added flower & clumped it but only stayed in one piece when it was almost burnt. moving it earlier made it loose

Reminds me of the onion bhajis we get in England at the Indian restaurants, Canada does them weird. Thank you (oh and I agree with the person who suggested using besan (chickpea flour)

Oh my goodness thank you! I tried frying a whole onion sliced through like a (blooming onion) that I battered and it did not turn out right, the batter was not cooked on the inside parts

Congratulations. You just made onion samosas. Next time consider making them using chic pea flour with a little cornstarch & baking powder & salt. This looks delicious anyways. Enjoy.

Now I want onion fritters and it looks so simple! That ranch looks so good too. I love my onion rings with ranch and ketchup, but these look so much better than onion rings!

My son worked in a bar/restaurant and they had blooming onions. He hated the things because he had to clean up the pans they used for frying. Huge mess to clean up.

Wow, looks delicious, I alway thought you had to cut the onions into a big ring, but the way you did yours is way better, I have to try it, thank you for sharing

OMGosh, Angelica, those look (and sound) amazing! We don't usually have sparkling water, but we almost always have beer; that might make an okay substitute

You may want to move your mic away from your mouth when you're chewing. The crunching and smacking is nauseating. Totally ruined the whole video for me.

My husband and I both would love these fritters! I would definitely add some spicy seasoning to the dip. Thank you for the recipe Angelica!

These remind me of Pakoras. Their makeup can include; Vegetables like Potatoes, onions, eggplant, spinach, cauliflower, and mixed vegetables.

Wow, they look awesome!
Made onion rings today, so good. I’ll make these tomorrow. (I sliced too many onions)
Thank you, Angelica.

I'd mix up the batter 1st, then pour over the onions! The ones you showed at the beginning looked much better! I like the idea though!

Forget the Blooming Onion you get at fairs. Onion Fritters are the way to go! Easy enough to make any time! Thanks for showing how!
