I LOVE pupusas and decided to show you how I make them. I am an amateur at best, but I think this is a good place to start. I also want to mention that the salsa I used is not a Salvadoran style salsa, but something I make frequently in my home. INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 lbs boneless pork meat 1 Roma Tomato 1/2 Bell Pepper 1/4 Onion 2 to 3 cloves garlic salt to taste 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 4 cups Maseca (you can purchase Maseca at the link below) 3 1/2 to 4 cups warm water 2 1/2 tsp kosher salt (if using table salt use less) Vegetable Oil for browning meat and to mix with water Griddle used in video Presto Tilt n' drain Cool Touch Big Griddle How to make Chicharrones for pupusas Pupusas Recipe How to Prepare Masa for Pupusas Como hacer Pupusas Receta para pupusas de chicharron

First off I want say thank you for posting this as I fell in love with pupusas but the place that sold them closed. I have made the recipe a few times and the last time I had made them I accidently made a couple too thin so I just recalled them and repatted out. When doing son that meant it was just all mixed and not a filling. I personally thought this tasted 1000x better. Yesterday I made them again and instead mixed the masa, cheese and pork mixture together. I personally loved them! They were even more most and easier to make. I do hope no one is upset that I messed with a recipe as such but I wanted to share my experience.

I hope you don't mind but one thing that I usually add is dried Mexican oregano (the stuff you can buy at the Latin American store. The stuff from McCormick or Badia is Mediterranean and doesn't taste the same. One tsp of the oregano for 3 lbs of meat is enough. You need to add it to the curtido, so a whole bag isn't wasted! Yummy! You did good! I'm a white-washed Salvadoran because I wasn't born in ES, nor did I grow up where the food got cooked, but I LEARNED! So, if anyone wants to learn, they CAN.

years ago we housed refugees from El Salvador. A young woman, Reina, introduced us to pupusas which we absolutely loved. A few years ago we visited El Salvador and had them again. I am determined to learn how to make them so I can prepared them for friends and family. Your video is wonderful. Crossing my fingers, I'm going to make them tonight!

My husband and his family are from El Salvador, we made a double batch of this Christmas Eve and the flew off the plate. Perfect recipe and she explains it very simply. We added ducal red beans to the chi hacharon mix as well. The mix freezes well, so you can prepare ahead.

that looks so good I never had this before I am looking for something new to make and it looks easy but does the meat have to be made it to a paste and I make your salsa the same way and it tastes just as good and can you leave the pupusas in a ball and deep fry

This is very close to original but I'd say it's only about 70% there, the masa is not supposed to crack that much and the cheese is supposed to go separately, the refried beans also missing and the veggies have to be cooked separately, regardless of that great job!

Omg those look soooo good. But question. Can I use a tortilla press and just leave the tortilla a bit on the thick side and not as large, add the filling, then put another fat tortilla on top and pinch the ends to seal hem together?

I think I'll try it with Kim Chi. I'm not much of a picked veggie guy, other than dill pickles and sauerkraut in Reuben sandwiches. I'm even very picky with Kim Chi as well. as I only like one brand that I grew up on.

My stomach is grumbling watching your videos! I'm totally inspired to give your recipes a try. I love everything I've watched so far, so why not see if I can reproduce it and enjoy too! Thanks for the great videos!
