Today I am cooking at home and making biscochitos. This is a popular traditional cookie in New Mexico. The combination of ingredients is aromatic and flavorful. The texture is flaky and melts in your mouth.
Ingredients
1 cup (190 g) lard, shortening, or butter (softened)
3/4 cup (150 g ) sugar
1 large egg (room temperature)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp orange zest
1 tsp crushed anise seeds
3 cups (390 g) all-purpose flour
