What a sweet family you have! Your son is adorable! I love the way he's always busy with something. Glad you've found ways to sneak extra protein into foods he likes. A good quality unflavored protein powder can be worked into so many things and is virtually undetectable. I had a friend whose daughter went through a phase (a LONG phase! ) where all she would eat was tomato soup out of one particular mug and a few soft things like yogurt and pudding, etc. I had some medical issues and needed extra protein in my diet so we tried adding some in to her food. It was wonderful! The sweet girl didn't notice and her mom felt better.
The brand I recommend is Isopure - it's just pure whey isolate protein. The only other ingredient is a touch of soy lecithin to help it mix better and be creamy if mixed into a shake.
If you think he would drink a protein shake, you could also try an afternoon snack of a milkshake every day. IMO, the best tasting brand is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder. It's a blend of whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate plus soy lecithin, flavoring (depending on what you choose) and sweetener (I think it also varies depending upon the flavor. If he likes chocolate, they have a big variety of chocolate flavors. One of my favorites was Rocky Road because it had a bit of marshmallow flavor that was even good mixed with warm (you can't do hot) milk as a hot chocolate, but equally good cold. All their chocolates are what made me learn to like chocolate - I hadn't been a chocolate person before. Their strawberry and vanilla flavors were good and a few others. They have a wide assortment.
Sorry to be so wordy!

How old is he?
I knew there was another reason I connected with you. I have a 12 year old with ASD. His desk corner looks similar to my sons room (minus 2 tablets. What does he watch on all 3? How do you keep them all charged? He looks so cute like a little business man. My son has had quite the food journey. He used to eat things he doesn't eat now but yet he eats more things now and is more willing to try things as he gotten older. He loves pancakes but hold the butter. It doesn't pass the smell test. Your pancakes are beautiful.
We are all trying our best in the life we are given. Your doing great mama

I think it's great u talk about ur sons diagnosis. I can relate about food aversions. My soon to be 30 year old son has a mild form of autism. He was a very picky eater but he would eat a lot of things most kids with autism doesn't so I was lucky in that way. My SIL son is a few years younger than my son and he has autism and still doesn't eat much. He's been having a lot of problems lately and drs r not finding out what the problem is. Love to u and ur son. He's precious.

Thanks so much for highlighting your son s needs. It s so important to educate people that autism food aversions are not kids being picky.
My son is also autistic. We have had so many struggles with food over the years. We went through food/feeding therapy for him and it was so helpful. He wouldn t eat meat for years.
Now a young man, he is an amazing adventurous eater. Your son is lucky to have a brilliant and creative cook for a mom

Are you aware of the Tylenol class action lawsuit? They proved taking Tylenol while pregnant caused autism. The autistic boys/men I know have issues with foods. One man in his 40s and in special care only eats white colored foods. Another man in his 40's that my friend watches during the day - does what your son was doing with the 3 devices all at once - absorbing all of them interestingly.

Hi there Angelica, great video. I appreciate you sharing about your son with your viewers. My 19 year old son has Autism and he loves pancakes (does not eat most foods) I sometimes like to add oat flour to the pancake mix or make all wheat pancakes, but I ve never tried these protein pancakes, I m going to, thanks!

I don t know if you ve heard of fairlife milk, but it has like double the protein and half the sugar of regular milk. I ve been using it for years since I had WLS. It s also a good way to add extra protein to anything that you can put milk in.

Thanks so much for sharing your family with us. My son, when younger wouldn't eat meat either. He finally got through that stage. It's hard on parents because we worry so much about our kids. Thanks again Angelica. Love to you and your family.

I have fallen in love with Walmarts Equate brand protein drinks that have 30 grams of protein. Since having stomach surgery, I don t process meat of any kind well. They are great to drink and to cook with for added protein.

My son is now an adult. He did not have food allergies but did have sensory issues with some foods and textures. I don t know if this would work with your son but we introduced new foods by having him help prepare the food.

My son is the same way! Thank you so very much. We have to give out son 2 supplement drinks a day. My son asks for pancakes every now and then. So now I know what to add. Thank you so much!

Can you please do a series on this.
Food aversion is difficult.
Sometimes I feel defeated.
What makes it even harder. I don t have anyone who understands the struggle.

Thank you for sharing this. I actually do something very similar myself, so it is good to know that I am not the only one out there, making pancakes similar to this style.
