Thank you to B. Hamzaev - Head of Marketing and Promotion of Uzbekistan Tourism. Bekruz: my Samarkand Travel Guide: Ravshans Channel: Uzbekistan Day 4: Full historical sights and food tour of Samarkand, Uzbekistan Samarkand is a monumental city of history and food that played a major role along the Silk Road, in between China and the Mediterranean. Its a city of fascinating history, giant plates of plov, and incredible kebabs. Gur-e Amir Сomplex - To begin this full tour of Samarkand, we started in the morning at Gur-e Amir Сomplex, the tomb and mausoleum of Amir Timur, the founding father of Samarkand, responsible for building much of the ancient remains of the city. The tomb complex from the outside is impressive, but the inside will blow you away. Registan - Theres no square more monumental and grand in scale than Registan, the center of the ancient city. Youll find madrasas and mosques, all of which are intricately decorated and magnificent. Siab Bazaar - A short walk from Registan is Siab Bazaar, right outside Bibi-Khanym Mosque. At the market we stopped to have tea with one of Bekruzs friends and tasted some nuts and dried fruit. The apricot seeds were new for me, and the dried apricots were spectacular. Osh Markazi - Theres no better place to eat plov, the national dish of Uzbekistan, when youre in Samarkand than Osh Markazi. Samarkand plov is notable for the rice being cooked in flax-seed oil with yellow carrots and beef. It was one of the best meals and dishes I had in my entire trip to Uzbekistan

Dear Mark Do you know that Samarkand and Bukhara are ancient Tajiks- persian cities. When the soviets came to Central Asia they divided central Asia into national states and they gave these Tajik cities to Uzbekistan depriving Tajikistan form its ancient historical cities. You should have noticed that everyone speaks Tajik language in these cities. These cities were the capital cities of Tajik dynasty Samanids in 8-9 centuries when Temurlane and uzbek didn't exist at all. Everything that you see there the streets and the writing on the buildings are in Tajik-persian laguage and script. During the Soviet union uzbaks have rewritten the history and totally distorted the hsitory of these cities and made a fake and fictional history to tell tourists. ahaha De jure you were in Uzbekistan but De facto you were in Tajikistan/ These cities have direct and indisputable relation to Tajiks and Persians in general but not barbarian turkic-mongols

Hey Mark, if you gonna eat frequently like that almost every hour. which is the most unhealthy style of eating, soon you experience Insulin Resistance, then prediabetic and then Diabetic. by the way you being slim is not a must for not getting diabetes, of course, most of the fat people get insulin resistance but still many thin people like you gets it, so being thin is not immune if you eat in this unhealthy style

Samarkand pilav is not the Uzbek pilav in origin. Samarkand pilav is tajik pilav and made of beef meat instead of lamb as what Uzbeks pilav. Real Uzbek pilav you can find in Tashkent. Their pilav is mixed and its not served as Samarkand pilav. Also Uzbek pilav has different preparation, they use lamb fat for oil as the based opposite to Samarkand pilav flaxseed oil and black sesame oil or cotton oil.
