The best Filipino food is definitely found in the provinces, well outside Manila! And even though Pampanga is praised as the culinary capitol of the Philippines, each region does the same dish very differently. This is why I think it’s so difficult to open Filipino restaurants around the world because it’s hard to singularize and one type of dish. I’ve eaten Filipino food all my life in the States. But when I ate the same food visiting my parents’ province last year, it was like having it for the very first time!

Wow, you're in my hometown. Back in high school, RM Ladaos is a staple for everyone. It was cheap and very delicious. And the humba in cogon was always the go-to when i got drunk. And ZC eatery was always awesome. Thank you, Mark!
Should have tried a couple more of the city's local favorites. like Bagong Lipunan pancit or La Creole or the sisig at Butchers Best. But maybe some other time.

When they drink the sikwate & putomaya. I love how the lady that prepares it looks intently at them to see if they enjoy it. Her expression really drives the point how much she cares about the experience she provides for others and truly demonstrates Filipino pride.

Awe man, all these Philippines videos remind me of my 2 trips there. That tabon-tabon fruit is astringent like hachiya persimmons, which has the sensation of drying out your mouth. Keep up the delicious work, Mark! Can’t wait till my next trip back!

Im from the philippines, your guide literaly dont know his own food, what a shame. We dont normaly serve humba as breakfast, We usually eat it during lunch or dinner time. He is giving you misleading facts in some of our food.

Kinilaw is probably my favorite Filipino food. Sikwate is fantastic too, far outshining the packaged hot chocolates you find in stores. Those two are, in my opinion, the two best foods you presented in this episode.

Cagayan de Oro, one of the most underrated city in the Philippines, it’s just sad a lot of people moving to CDO from various provinces are ruining it, especially those Ghetto muslims.

Cebu has Puto Maya and Sikwate as well. It’s my favorite breakfast. I always run outside when I hear someone shouts Puto Maya in the morning. It’s one of the things I miss from Cebu.

The common mistake of food reviewers is they usually taste them without rice. Most of the filipino ulam can't be eaten directly without rice as they are too savory.
