I noticed Markunbe on your shirt. It's based on a legend/story for kids in the Maldives called Maakunbe, who, in the story, is almost as gluttonous for food as Mark. The highlight of the story goes like this: He has 12 kids, and all of them married and lived on a nearby island. One day, Maakunbe goes to visit these kids. He goes around the house of each of his kids, and they offer him food. They offered him a few kilograms worth of sweet dish made of rice and an equivalent amount of fried fish. He gulps down the whole meal himself, and this repeats at all 12 houses of his kids on the same day. So after this small feast, he goes to the beach and lies down on a bench to stretch his belly. Alas, a single fiber from a coconut husk blew with the wind onto his belly, which ended up exploding his stomach and killing him. Hope this doesn't happen to Markunbe!
So in maldives, you maybe called a maakunbe if you eat a lot or have a huge belly

If your last video on the Maldives was a probably-never-seen side of the country, this one is full of never-seen-before dishes!
As a Keralite from the northern part of the state, I’ve eaten countless fish-and-coconut dishes but none of these! The preparation methods and cooking styles blew my mind.
I can also sense the incredible amount of research and effort it takes to discover these hidden culinary gems and present them so beautifully. This is more than a food & travel video.
Massive respect to team Migrationology Mark, Ying, and Micha

Wow, Mark! Your video on exploring the diverse world of tuna in the Maldives was absolutely captivating. Your enthusiasm and passion for food are truly infectious, and I loved how you highlighted the unique flavors and culinary traditions of the region. The way you describe each dish makes me feel like I'm right there with you, savoring every bite. Keep up the amazing work!

Mark and his team be going places that i didnt even knew existed with the residents of these places appearing to be living TRANQUIL lifestyles. On top of them speaking their NATIVE LANGUAGES AND ENGLISH FLUENTLY But that just goes to show that AMERICA ISN'T the CENTER of the UNIVERSE. as a great amount of Americans deem themselves to BELIEVE.

Mark may need to detox from all the mercury built up in his system from his consecutive trips to Maldives and Japan! Although Maldivians claim to have built up a resilience to that from centuries of eating tuna as a staple food, so maybe you can ask them for some tips.

Mark, I stopped eating tuna because I was buying expensive tuna but they claim it had mercury in it not a lot, but it had mercury and the tuna fish. I’m like you can’t remove mercury out of your body so I had to stop eating tuna fish and I love tuna I love it.

Damn you were literally treat like a king or should say like sultan. Cause all the meals you had while in addu were literal feasts fit for traditional royal family. My eyes widen and was craving for that sweet and savory platter with dates, coconut.

We’re currently on vacation in the Maldives and thanks to Mark, we’ve been focusing on the local dishes instead of the western style ones. Love the smoked and fresh tuna. Funny enough, we also tried today the coconut apple.

It’s like a horror movie in its own making. Mark eating breakfast and a lady ghost standing in the middle of the door in the background with evil intentions to stage another misery night for him. Hehehehehe. Jk

Fun fact in dhivehi there is a different name for every stage of development for coconuts. The stage they use for Addu bendi is called gabilhi which is a slightly mature but not completely matured coconut

27: 40 It's called Rihaakuru Dhiya, not Rihaakuru Garudhiya
It's made like Mas'huni but coconut milk is used instead of shredded coconut and of course it has Rihaakuru in it.
