Laping is a spicy cold noodle dish served as a Tibetan street food. For more food and travel check out my website: While exploring the Boudhanath stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal, I noticed a number of stall where a few people were gathered around sitting on low stools slurping down little plastic bowls of what looked like spicy tofu on noodles. So as a curious and adventurous eater traveler, the next thing I knew, I was sitting on a bench enjoying my very first bowl of laping, a Tibetan street food noodle dish. As I explained in the video, it sort of looked like a yellow noodle pancake at the beginning. But as soon as you order a bowl of laping cold Tibetan noodles, the noodle is sliced up into strips and then combined with a number of different sauces, including soy sauce and vinegar. The vendor then asked us if we wanted it spicy, and our reply was by all means yes, so he added a spoon of lethal chili sauce into our bowls of laping noodles. Finally, a spoon of ground tofu was added to the top of the noodles to complete this unique snack. The bowls and dining ware kind of looked like a play set, but it worked well, despite the noodles being extremely slippery. So my first bowl of laping was extremely delicious. The noodles are very smooth and soft and the sauce was salty, sour, and extremely spicy. The vendor wasn't joking when he mentioned to me at the beginning that the chili sauce was hot - it was hot and delicious. It was the type of chili sauce that made your lips burn. After eating my bowl of laping Tibetan street food noodles, and having a chat with a little girl that was possibly the daughter of the vendor, we continued walking around, eventually sampling some Nepali street food When you're in the Boudhanath stupa area of Kathmandu, Nepal, be sure to eat some laping noodles for a quick and refreshing snack

Hey Nabila, thank you so much for your support Well, one thing is that I really try to search for things that look good from the start, another thing is that I really do love a huge amount of different foods. As of now, on camera, I haven't had anything really bad that I didn't like, mainly because I've traveled to destination where to food is awesome. But in the future if I do have something bad I will definitely publish it

Just catching up on your older videos, your look, and your filming style, has changed. Maybe take Micah on a trip to Napal and visit the same places, to see if those kids, maybe around his age then, as Micah is now, are still around the restaurants? They were very cute interrupting your filming. Just a thought. I love your great videos

No it's gluten actually it's not made out of battery or anything. That's purely just gluten. they make a dough out of an all purpose flour and knead it in water till all the starch is out and they make laphing out of the water and the left over gluten is used to make the filling for the laphing.

Nah, when you're Mark Wiens, you can never overdo THE FACE. That's called passion in the food man, paaahhsshhun; . I just noticed the condiment bottles, both have spouts like a teapot. That's quite a novel idea there. Wish I could find soy sauce bottles like that in Canada.

Still my hero mark Love the cute little girl Love it when your Environment It's interwoven with u & the food So natural and real feel like I'm there with you Your videos are unique I wonder though LOL if you could have asked them to make that dish warm not cold

From the looks of it the girl was either the shop owner's daughter or the neighbours so she probably already tried it and even if she wasn't the shop owner probably discouraged him to since there's loads of kids begging and the locals don't want them bothering the tourists

Laping is one of my favorite. It is also vinegar based and the noodles are actually made of rice flour. I'm not sure what the white pieces that were on top of the laping are. There is usually none but it looks like Chura (Tibetan cheese)
