Get all the details for this Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ) right here: Alright everyone, I've been receiving some requests to post some Thai recipes, so this is my first attempt at filming and publishing a Thai street food recipe known as pad kra pao gai, and I'm excited. When I first moved to Thailand, most of what I did was only eat, and discover all the amazing food there way. I lived in a small studio apartment without a kitchen, so I wasn't able to do much cooking or sample the many Thai recipes I had wanted to try out. But after getting married and moving into a house, we now have a kitchen, and while normally my wife and her mother do the cooking (which is outstanding by the way, I have had a chance to make some Thai street food recipes as well. For this Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ) here are the ingredients you'll need, but really, you should click here to see all the ingredients and directions on my website. 1 egg 2 tablespoons of oil for frying 1 chicken breast (or any other cut of boneless chicken, about 200 grams) 5 cloves of garlic 4 Thai chilies 1 tablespoon oil for frying 1 teaspoon of oyster sauce teaspoon light soy sauce teaspoon sugar 1 splash of dark soy sauce 1 handful of Thai holy basil leaves 1 plate of hot freshly steamed Thai jasmine rice - I also really like brown rice. Now, the ingredients listed here for the Thai basil chicken recipe (pad kra pao gai ) are what I used. But that being said, Thai food is very much a taste based cuisine, meaning that you really need to taste test your cooking. Don't just assume all these measurements are correct for your taste buds - and sometimes the seasonings we use can differ a bit. So use these ingredients and cooking directions as a guide instead of as exact measurements

I have lived in Thailand for almost 10 years - and never cooked my own food. Mostly because of the overwhelming selection of cheap, but delicious restaurants all over this country - but also because I am a lazy. Two years ago, I moved to Isan (Northeast Thailand) and here it can be a challenge to find good central- and southern Thai food outlets. Today I saw your video and two hours later I made my very first pad krapao. It was delicious and very easy Thank you Please keep up the good work

Good job on the dish. However, the most original kra pao does not contain dark soy sauce. I am sure that one of famous judges on a Thai cooking show will get mad by seeing the sauce. LOL. She suggested that we have to grind a Thai yellow chili, Thai red chili, and bird eye's chili into a paste. This paste will cause the whole dish to turn darker (brown. The brown texture might be close to the dark soy sauce, but the taste is not the same. :D

Wonderful and tasty recipe I cannot find holy basil where I live so I ordered from AmazonDried Holy Basil and I steeped a nice handful in a few cooked down fresh tomatoes first then added to the chicken, garlic & peppers, I did add a nice splash of fish sauce in the end. I love that flavor, I can't help it: ) So good, I could eat it every day Thank you, I love your videos

It took a while for me to find a source of holy basil here in the UK, but I found a supply of dried holy basil. I love this combination of ingredients, but I always add a dash of fish sauce as well. Thank you for your video upload - it was inspirational

We have a lots of southern Thai restaurants in Malaysia. And of of my favourite dish after tom yum is chicken phad kra phau, stir fry chicken with basil. The smell from basil is so automatic. Tq for sharing the cooking video Mark.
