I was raised on Gulliver's, the weird joint with tons of statuettes and mirrors and gilded frames for a lifetime and deep dish that always tastes like a revelation. I knew of Burt Katz from a swing Anthony Bourdain made thru Chicago for his show but I never knew he opened Gulliver's originally. Wow.

The interviewer couldn't muster up a proper follow-up question? He had some great missed opportunities when Burt mentioned the dark side of owning a business. Instead, the interviewer just looks away and laughs. Shame.

My mother and father went to Burt's place every sunday for the past 5 years or so. I would go with my brother, fiance and Friend as often as possible. Nothing compared to Burt's pizza. His legend will live on. RIP.

Got to try Pequod's when last there. glad to have been there and OK pie but not one of the better in Chicago--His own place looked like a dusty mess. that's how Pequod's became the destination. lol

I've been going here my childhood, haven't had it in a few years we mostly do Lou Malnatis now since its like 30 minutes closer, but wow was this some good pizza!

I heard the place has re open. But Burt is gone. The food might be the same but from what I have seen of Burt he seemed to have a funny persoanlity. RIP Burt
