I respect his patience for doing the ketchup thing. wow. -I know I would've -1: Been pretty offended as we spend hours on recipes even after I get home from work I still perfect ideas. -2. Would've outright refused. -I still think anyone who asks for ketchup at this kind of quality sushi place is a douche bag. -But wow props to this chef for not only being patient but actually making his own version for someone who didn't belong in his restaurant. -It's like going to see the Mona Lisa and asking a museum worker to draw goth make-up on her.

I understand his intentions when using fish from Japan, but you really shouldn't eat seafood from there. After the tsunami, a radiation leak has spread all over the seas in Japan and as a result, also spread to the fish and sea life. My father's friend and his wife went on a vacation to Japan and after visiting the hospital from a stomachache, the wife was told to avoid getting pregnant at all costs for at least 7 years because of radiation poisoning. :/

I was at Morimoto's restaurant in Orlando a few years ago with my wife and kids, and the Chef himself was there for the soft opening. I expected him to smile and shake hands the whole time, but instead he spent 99% of the day behind the sushi bar, creating delights for his customers. The best sushi I've ever had, hands down. I guess we all need to take a trip to Jiro's spot in Japan to make a comparison.

Masaharu Morimoto. You can only find peace in Christ. The one who made you and the talent with it. The designer is not recognize, I like you and some of my Japanese friends and relatives in Japan. I feel sad about. For many Japanese I know, doesnt have that peace you wish or you like. I hope you have that peace. You are typical Japanese with good caracter. Thank you for sharing what you know.

for a guy with so much success It's amazing how humble Morimoto is. That Ketchup story was amazing. how many pompous chefs would have had the guy thrown out of their restaurants for something like (--cough-- Marco Pierre White). No matter how crass and out of place the customers request might have been it makes Morimoto that much more of a class act that he didn't flip his shit

when u get idolised like he does when you go to your own resturant, i can imagine that is one of the most cool feelings ever. -his life is almost a bit fairytaily if i should say it like that. -kinda rough upbringing, kid into sports, gets injured and becomes one of the leading names in cooking. seeing a romatisised movie about his life would be kinda cool.

It's kind of crazy how Masa and Gordon Ramsey have such similar career paths. Both were on track to becoming pro athletes (Gordon with soccer) until an injury stops them and they go into cooking. Now both are TV personalities as well as esteemed chefs with multiple restaurants.

by the sounds of it, your father was a soldier in WWll, im not making excuses for his actions but im sure the war would have affected him mentally and he turned to alcohol to numb the pain but only ever causes more to himself and loved ones

I enjoyed this. Morimoto is a really nice guy and seems like a great leader and inspiration to his whole team. The moment he says he tries to keep healthy and that thousands are on his shoulder says it all about him.
