Danny and Elizabeth Rossi, a father-daughter duo, run a hot dog cart outside New York City-s Metropolitan Museum of Art. As disabled veterans, they are given a special permit for their cart, yet there have been issues with non-vets getting their hands on these permits, allowing illegal businesses to flourish and causing overcrowding. In this video, Danny and Elizabeth share how they manage to survive in this oversaturated and harsh working environment. #streetfoodicons #streetfood #munchies

Couple of years back, i was living in a kind of slum house/neighborhood, my father had a nice car and he couldn't leave it on the streets at night because you know, bad neighborhoods where you hear that paint were dropped off on some other people's cars or theft etc. So he had to go drop the car in an office underground garage which we got accessed to from a family member but only for the nights. So he had to park the car at around 6 pm and get it back before 7 am (then return home by bus and go to the garage by bus, every day of the week. So it was hard, some days he was ill, some he was tired, other he was busy at work but still kept doing those cycles of picking and dropping. This video reminded me of those moments, couple of years later, we were able to buy a house in a nice neighborhood and the car is now park in the yard, no anxiety of who took your spot of the street etc. I know how it feels and i know this is hard life, this man is going though very though time but he has that scent of not letting go. I would advice him to get out of this, find another way of getting a living, go to the countryside, it will be much better.

-There are supposed to be 4 legal stands, there are 9. 5 of them are illegal but the city doesn-t know what to do about it. ---Hey NYC officials, this man figured it out. Get your heads out your arses and send some boys in blue to clean them up. You raid Enron-s offices, subdued the 99% using police force for the rich. But you can-t stop a small operation running 5 illegal hot dog stands so the 4 other ones can make a living legally. GTFO NYC government.

: ( What a Debbie Downer moment. This Danny guy should have a nice comfortable private bedroom to himself, but no. -I haven't had any retirement in my future, so it's work. Do The Right Thing. - - Danny R. I hope that this hot dog stand weathers the crazy (virus) storm and is still standing - after the dark cloud blows over, for not just the Gotham City, but for the entire country & the world. The way Americans treat their veterans is disgraceful. They enter more wars and have the biggest armed forces in the world. Yeah, they clap them at sports events and you're supposed to thank people for their service, but this is yet another example of the bureaucracy that stops them. Another example was the first responders bill, those people are American heroes, yet the politicians gave them no respect.

2: 04 -When we see these guys over here pretending to be veterans we get upset-. --Why? They have a mental illness. Like you they are injured and arent taken care of properly by the government. -The moral high ground is a risky place to be. For example, those verteran imitators probably didnt rape village children and smash their mothers faces in with a rifle butt stock. -But thats just me.

I believe the label -disabled- is overrated these days. Some are seriously milking it. Perfectly able bodied individuals work the system and often receive well over 1K a month. claiming PTSD, Depression and so on. I served, sustained injury and am rated at 30%. Nothing compared to what some are receiving. PTSD is an easy claim and you can bank on it!

NYC is incredibly mismanaged. The sheer fact it doesn-t all collapse is because of the huge revenues the city pulls in from the businesses here. PC politics prevent the pandering politicians from doing anything to really help any American citizen. It-s all about votes and staying in power and the one party democrat iron grip they have on New York State

Hard life. The coastal cities are the worst when it comes to treating their precious veterans. They-d much rather support criminals and their disgusting illegal behavior, and virtue signal constantly, rather than help out the people who put their lives on the line to give you the life you have today.

My only problem with him is that he wants less vendors. Get rid of the illegal ones yes. But anybody should be allowed to legally open one if they so choose. Everybody a capitalist until the want govt to protect their business. Govt should never pick winners and losers

I was in NYC a few months ago and went to their cart. Absolutely amazing hot dogs and French fries. I got the NY style hot dogs and they were absolutely amazing. The father reminds me of my late grandpa who was a World War II veteran and lived Old Western films.
