Hi Sam. This video hits home as I'm 51 and have been informed my cholesterol levels are elevated so I've recently embraced the products you are cooking here. The Beyond Burger is twice as expensive as the equivalent beef patties. HOWEVER. a quarter pound beef patty has 77mg of cholesterol, 17g of fat and 250 calories. The Beyond Burger has 0mg cholesterol, 18g fat and 250 calories. This is significant for anyone looking to eliminate as much cholesterol from their diet as they can. It also can be flattened more before you cook it if you're attempting to make a big mac. I generally flatten a single patty and it fills a sandwich made with regular bread easily. The sausages are a pretty good substitute for hot dogs. And I'm a huge carnivore.

Here in New York where I live you can buy ground chuck around 8 for 2 and half pounds of the stuff and it is 80/20! Not comparing apples to oranges or anything. but I would rather just EAT MEAT instead of nut crap plant burger garbage! Besides Paul and Linda McCartney BOTH were vegetarians and both have cancer. which in fact I think Paul died from cancer if my memory serves me correctly! Besides when you go into a health food store around here, the people who eat and work there, all look very, very sickly at best! Grey skin, as thin as a rail and not strong enough to lift a fork to their mouths. I certainly DO NOT want to look like those people!

I'm a carnivore that has to eat healthier. Anyway, I love a good black bean burger every now and again. Morning Star brand sucks but Boca actually tastes pretty good. Boca's has the texture and taste you get over-cooking a beef burger. They can be a bit dry but the texture and taste are good. Morning Star just falls apart and tastes terrible. Who's fooling who anyway? I throw so many condiments on my burgers that it would hide vegan anything. Boca is my recommendation if you have to. Never tried the Beyond Burger anything yet. baby poop green burgers though. eesh!

Sam, I agree with your sentiment about adding what I call Angry Ketchup to things. By itself its good, but it definitely jacks things up to the next level. If youre successful with McDonalds, perhaps you could convince them to offer an iteration using Quarter Pounder meat! When I was between failing (drinking) out of college and joining the Army I worked at MickyDs and used to make my Employee Lunch a Big Mac done as I remember them from 1980! Freaking AMAZING!

Sam - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you - a thousand times Thank you - all your hype for Jack Ryan inspired me to go out and purchase Season 1 and let me tell you - my husband and I are totally hook on the series! I watch all your episodes of cooking, which are awesome - just way to short - I'd really like to see at least a 30 to 60 minute episode of my fave Sam the cooking guy - I totally enjoy all your segments, just wish they were longer!

Meat like this is an abomination. you don't see meat eaters making groundbeef in to look like a hunk of broccoli or a carrot. any vegan or vegetarian who eats this shit is a hypocrite. If you are vegan or a vegetarian - OWN IT and eat vegetables. it makes no sense to eat shit that is vegetables that is made to look like meat. If you want to eat a burger--eat the damn meat. also - WHY cook a vegetable to 165f? It has no meat!

From my point of view, the Beyond Burgers are much better than the Beyond Sausages. The sausages are decent, but the burgers are pretty kick-ass. Just a thought from a full-on carnivore who has Beyond Meat Burgers once a month (bbq'd, naturally, on my back deck here in Canada. Not shabby at all. If you haven't tried them yet, give it a shot. Mind you, they are rather pricey compared to regular beef.

Im so happy you made this video, my boyfriend and I watch your videos religiously and besides the fact he despises your love of onions. We do our best to do what Sam does when it comes to cooking. I have been trying to get him to try a meatless option ( for years ) Now that hes seen this video he has decided it wouldnt hurt to try it. Hopefully he survives - his words!

I think you should try and do a more natural vegan dish, aside from a fast food type of plant based burger or sausage. I have went plant based for a little over 2 months now, and I didn't really like the burgers, sausages or other types of varieties. Sticking with quinoa, lentils, chickpeas, wild rice and things like that made all the better, flavor wise.
