There s nothing like a bit of glitz and glamour to spice up your Wednesday. You can find out more about the ingredients we reviewed in the links below. Just so you know, some of these might be affiliate links, which means if you buy something from the store after clicking on them, the store will pay us a percentage of your basket

I used to be a computer programming consultant. I was once brought in after the one and only person who knew the superuser password for the main computer had dropped dead of a heart attack. ( The superuser, AKA root, is the one user who can do everything on a specific computer)
I was able to reset the superuser password, but it wouldn't have been necessary if just one other person had been let into the secret. That's what I was thinking about when Ben said that only one person knew the Gentleman's Relish recipe.

I'm English, living in Athens, Greece, where the first two pretentious ingredients can both be readily found in the relevant shops. The whole candied fruits would traditionally be used as a decoration on a cake or served whole to be shared at the table: a luxurious form of sweetmeat in a climate where in summer chocolate and cream dessserts could not be done. The luxurious golden dragees are often added to regular pink and white ones and are offered to guests at weddings.

Never heard of Gentleman's Relish before now. Honestly, it is Gentleman's Relish regardless of patent, it's kinda like saying Post-It Notes (or what ever) even when talking about an off brand version, doesn't matter, it is gentleman's relish regardless of trademarks and the company has the issue that certain soda/cola/pop/coke (I grew up with em all cause grandparents called it different things then my parents) brands have in the US. It annoys me.

Do you know what worries me about the Gentlemen's Relish you're not allowed to call Gentlemen's Relish? The design of the pot. Preservation in jars relies on one thing and one thing alone, the space inside this jar is it's own atmosphere which is right for storing the product. But, there are so many places for air to get in, I can't imagine it keeping very long. And, that's a product you need to own at least 2 years to clear out a jar.

Sugar coated almonds are traditionally given to guests at Greek weddings. A handful are wrapped in tulle and bound with a ribbon. They are NOT metallic but plain white in color and if fresh, delicious. I brought mine from Greece to the US because the quality was so much better and less than half the price. The combination of nut and sugar is like a hope for a happy and fruitful life.

that second thing. confetti, damned confetti. those things are always gifted as wedding favor, or christening. I hate getting those little boxes. it could be my number one reason for avoiding those celebrations. In those cases are not even decorative, they are given inside a cloth sachet, inside a decorated box.
I hate also all variations. almonds, chocolate, colored coating, etc.

Cooking for the Queen is cool, but what you need to do is a pass it on challenge with Harry and Meghan! I feel like they'd be game and it would make a great video! You could even get them involved in the relay if they wanted. While they're waiting have them judge pretentious ingredients, ask what the most pretentious ingredient they've ever had was, or see if they know their gadg.

In my hometown we have a few roads commonly referred to as The Mother-In-Law's Tongue, due to the fact, that they're long and winding, alluding to both a snake and the fact, that here in Lithuania the saying that someone has a long, twisted tongue means they spread rumours and sow the seeds of conflict, which mothers-in-law are known for in the local folklore.

The gold-coloured dragees are pretentious, not because they are dragees, rather the coating that pretends to be gold, but made from potentially hazardous chemicals, to me that is the ultimate pretentiousness, like eating Japanese fugu fish (being both expensive and potentially life-threatening, cheers.

Thanks so much for the constant video uploads - really enjoyed your content since 2018. Since there isn't much for us to do at home - your uploads is my pointer of which day of the week it is. Loving to see the creativity of getting different pretentious ingridients & unique gadgets every week!
