How To Make A Strawberry Cheesecake Cake Roll Recipe With Alix Lila: Sorry to put a downer on this video but how many people have tried this? When I tried this recipe it looked really simple. I followed the recipe exactly then I put it in the oven after 15 minutes I took it out and put a knife in it to see if it was done as the top looked like it was ready. it was not. The top had formed a sort of crunchy sugar layer and when you inserted a knife it was raw? the cake would just not bake. After 30 minutes in the oven I just gave up the cake was formed but not and really sticky like it had been soaked in caramel. Please tell me why this happened? I thought it was because the sugar was not a balanced amount with the flour or is it meant to be 1 1/2 cup of sugar?

I made this for my moms birthday a few days ago and added the cream cheese to homemade whipped cream to spread it out more. It was delicious, even better the next day. However, the cake dried up after i rolled it and it was a little tougher than it looked on here but the flavors were delicious. She liked it so much i am making it again today What can i do to keep the cake from drying up and sticking to the towel? Powdered sugar wasnt enough: o

This isnt a new concept. Cake rolls were a very Victorian dessert, especially around Christmas. They had a resurgence in popularity in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to those popular hostess magazines. My grandma has been making almost the exact same recipe for like 40 years. It is delicious But not new. Another good one is a pumpkin spicr cake with a cream cheese filling, and a chocolate cake with a whipped cream and berry filling. Mmm.

Pro tip: dont bother dusting it with powdered sugar unless youre serving it immediately. The sugar gets absorbed by the moist cake so you lose the visual effect, and you really dont need the extra sweetness.

If you could make those strawberry chunks into a jam it would save you a lot of trouble to roll up the cake. It certainly wont be as easy as she said. Some chunks will be either squashed or pushed out.

Should you refrigerate the cake right after you take it out of the oven, or you wait for it to cool of a lil bit? Caz as I have heard if you put something hot in the refrigerator it will go bad

I bet if you diced some more strawberries ( or replaced the middle ones ) and put sugar on them ( it makes them sweet and syrupy ) and put that inside or on top. OH BOY
