So excited to share this fun collab With Wendy and I did! I gave her a list of materials to purchase ahead of time and I led her through a DIY project. BUT she couldnt see me and I couldnt see her! Do you think she did a good job at recreating my project? Comment below!

They're not lying about the wood size. 2x4 or 2x6 is the nominal wood size. This means it is what the wood is initially cut to when it is run through the milling machines. However, when they sand it down to smooth out the sides you inevitably lose some of the thickness and width. In general the rule of thumb is you lose half an inch. So a board that is nominally 2x6 is actually 1. 5x5. 5.
For boards that are thinner, 1 inch thick, you only lose a quarter of an inch. so the actual size would be 0. 75x5. 5 for a 1x6.
Usually if you're buying from a big chain hardware store (think Home Depot or Lowes) they have both the nominal and actual size printed on the sticker.

I wanted to do design too, but realized I wasnt as good at sewing like I thought And now I graduated with a product development concentration and do PD full time! But I interior design would be a dream edit: me listening to you explain and WATCHING how to do macrame and I still dont understand haha

After watching this and other collab vids of yours I thought how cool would it be if you did an 'Ikea Hack Off'. You and other youtubers get the same item from Ikea and then do your own hacks and then each display how you did them - to show how different or similar your ideas were! that would be cool.

Sooo cooool. love both of YOU guys
I just have a thought could improve it a little
U could have started the macrame from the ring down and then slipped the cord through the openings of the shelf. and tie them together then add some beads and let them hang
That would be nice too

It's 1 x 6 rough cut. So when it's been cleaned up it loses a bit of the volume and ends up being slightly less than the 1 x 6 nominal dimension (typically 1/8 off each face I believe but don't quote me.

wood is always slightly smaller than it is labeled bc it is cut and then allowed to dry and it shrinks a little bit while its drying! so usually about 1/8 smaller than labeled

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this title, but it was so much better than I could have thought! Super fun idea and you executed it so nicely! Thanks for this

The reason the wood is always a little bit shorter is because they mill a bit off. And I think they don't say it because. 5x5. 5 isn't as easy to say as 1x6
