I share some tips regarding organization of small studio spaces and things you can do to optimize your studio work environment. No need to have a giant studio in order to create beautiful work and operate successfully. #01 - Create Your Space/Studio - Blocking off an actual corner of a room and using that as your studio will help keep it separate from the rest of your life. #02 - Utilize Vertical Space - Use shelves and other vertical wall space to store paintings and supplies which will give you more floor space for working and creating art. #03 - Minimize Materials - If you haven't used it in a while and don't plan on using it any time soon, just throw it out or give it away. #04 - Keep It Clean - This is personal, so it depends on each artist. For me, keeping things clean and tidy helps me create better and quicker when my flow of inspiration hits

nice video! These tips are all very helpful to people who have to get used to a small work space: )
I've been living in a tiny room all my life so I'm used to doing everything you've described. My room is literally that small that you can only take one step into it and have to bend your knees a bit so your head doesn't hit the ceiling: ') I really wish I had more wall space to hang my paintings! Sadly my room's walls are either already filled with shelves and cupboards or they're at a steep angle so it's difficult to put up my art there. Until now I've been taking photos of all my pieces and saving them on my computer while giving the real paitings away as there unfortunately is no space to put them on display at home: /

. my room is smaller than that and I have only 1 square yard of space for a desk(TV stand) and I use my bed as a chair and all my costumes (I sew) is along the one wall wile all my other things are around my room. if you take 3 steps from my other wall to my door your in my door way. i have an idea to use this shed or old camper(both are bigger than my room) as my art studio or Craft Shack. should I wait till I'm old enough to move out or should I get a shed?

I like all his tips but one - minimizing materials. many artist including myself go through phases where we might work in lets say color pencil for months or even years and tgen go into a phase where we're crazy about acrylic paint so. I say put your supplies you haven't used in a year into a supplies closet in case you decide to use it later. and minimize your materials buy only buying what you are going to use in the immediate future

Good tips. I personally don't hang my art up for storage or showcasing really. I do it as a way to gauge progress, and when I feel negative, I can review what I have already done. be it good or bad, it's still finished work, I still learned from each piece, and this keeps me motivated to be consistent no matter what.
Also, like you, I hate clutter. it drives me nuts when I can't find something, and even worse it breaks the flow.

Great tips! I keep my studio clean as well. Wish I could say the same for all my brushes. I don't go as far as soap though, just Gamsol. I've been painting for 18 years. Checking what new artists are up to today. Looks like you got some talent. I do originals, but I like challenging myself to replicate Master work. That's how I originally began painting. You should try. If you've already done it, try something more challenging.

Interesting. curious how you got to 4 tips, but then I say who cares, 1 or 1million, they are all appreciated.
But most important, please advise on the brush cleaning item? bar of soap? sharpening stone to break up dried paint? or some other new item, again my curiosity got a hold on me, haha.
Thanks
Be well, be Real, and be You!

Beautiful work. Good video. My problem is flat storage. i have so many pads: Watercolor blocks and paper, Bristol Vellum, tracing paper, sketchbooks, and finished work. Much of it too big to store vertically in a bookcase. I've been using those acid-free -clam shell- boxes from Blick, but stuff proliferates.

Thank you for this. I was looking for ideas get my studio trimmed down and organized. . In fact, my husband and I are trying to do this throughout our home and life. the ideas are so common sense and simple!

What do you do with all your paintings? Keep them all? Put in scrap book? Throw some away or keep them to repaint them? I have a stack of them I go back to and see improvement or repaint in new colors.
