I discuss the importance of observation when it comes to creating art, a drawing or a painting. It's really the first step I take in the process of anything I create, especially from life EVILLAMA: When i was 5 i drew (not so good) people. thier head would be a circle a dress would be a triangle a shirt would be rectangle and small squares for the arm holes. legs would be lines or rectagles and shoes where ovels. it wast the best but thinking now whith other drawing i did when i was little i did with like siple shapes, and drawing now you do shapes and turn it into what you what to draw more less. But if i want better drawings than a 5 year old im goings to need to be even observation and see shadows and shapes and how things work and all that. Guess me drawing when I was little wasnt so bad (even if my drawings where bad and still kind of are but im learning.

I taught my first private art lesson this week and I litterly said all of this to my student! Observation is SUPER important! It's the foundation and using shapes are the building blocks.

Observation is the key. First you need to see your subject accurately and as it is; not as you think it is. Then you need to see what you are doing, so you can correct the errors.

Wow. now i understand it(it is not all about imagination and skill, you have to know how to cultivate them too)ty this video helped me a lot.

To observe correctly you need to observe from life. This gives the shapes in volume, play of light, subtleties not available to the camera.
