My process for practicing color when painting landscapes outdoors. I've been attending the Plein Air Convention in San Diego this week. I created a fun little video of a sunset color study painting. Shows my process when I go out to paint on location. From the thumbnail composition sketch, to the colors I use, to playing around with colors for a good atmospheric effect. Great Plein air! But I was wondering what medium you were using. It really does look like oil, bit when you were laying in the washes I seems like it was gouache.
Either way the blending and techniques were superb!

Can you please do a tutorial on environments or something. I've been trying at them for months and I'm just not improving. I don't know how to learn. What kind of things should I be practicing?

This was super interesting! The range value of the shadow and how the water perfectly spreads the paint all down the canvas is amazing!
