HOW do you do this though? That lateral ability to just leap from an original idea to another. I can't do it, my brain is way too linear and literal. I'll sit for hours at a time trying to develop a character or idea and just get nowhere; it's driving me insane! It's gotten worse as well, I've been trying to write fiction and have gotten to a point where I haven't written a single line of prose in over five years. I can't develop my ideas beyond basic concepts. Aaaahh. I'm starting to think it's just a neurotype or something, and I'm trying to get into a profession I'm simply not wired for. :'(

In the next videos, could you adjust the censoring a bit? Scott Flanders speaks pretty softly, despite his use of curse words here and there. So blocking out the swearing with quite loud bleeps disrupts the flow of the video and is pretty distracting every time. It kind of makes the lesson harder to follow, especially when I (a deaf person) already had to turn up the volume to actually hear Scott well.

It's good to know that even masters don't come up with good ideas first time. I think that's what held me back for years: I just assumed if I studied the funamentals of a subject enough, I could just bang out an instant hit, and was frustrated when that never happened. But now I see it's only through iteration that workable ideas can surface.

I love this so much. I limit myself with art and make silly rules but honestly I enjoy messing with concepts and this motivates me to want to change concepts and not just stick and force myself to one thing. This is also encouraging me to actually write stuff down in regards to my process of creating.

I think my favorite is the one with the scarecrow on the back and the enlarged arm on the other side without him holding the tiny PumpkinHead. The previous iteration looked like the PumpkinHead and scarecrow were competing for attention but in this one the scarecrow seems to be well balance.

Oh, this is so cool! I'm also mightily impressed by the vast library of references to mythology, farming tools, pop culture monsters and whatnot Scott has in his head: )

Very motivating! I never thought about the concept of being able to conceptualize all day every day. Definitely understand the need for making system.

Thanks for the vid! Just starting to get into character creation, and seeing the nuts and bolts of how you do it is really helpful.
