Good video. It was interesting listening to young-ns talking about art school in the 90-s and later. It doesn-t sound like it-s changed a lot. I was in CCA in the 70-s. Oil was the only painting medium. However Aaron-s comments about paint, pastel and oil painting in classes disturbed me. As far as solvents and oil paints, I can somewhat sympathize with the schools, even though most use odorless, flammable liquids can be a problem. An alternative is to use walnut oil for cleaning, as well as a painting medium. Masters (the old guys used it) and it does a fine job of cleaning brushes, certainly during a painting session. Most of what you hear about the toxicity of oil paints, and pastels are myths. Unless you plan on eating it, even cadmium colors will do you no harm. Yes, the dust from pastels should not be inhaled. Someone asked about pyrrole red. It-s a color that has come out and and seems to be primarily advertised as an alternative to cad red. It-s a color that Mark Carder uses in his paints. I don-t particularly like it. To me it-s a red that just doesn-t look natural to me.

Here is a question a little off topic for this video, exept it has to do with Zorn. I recently went to a Zorn show in Stockholm to study his oils, but was also blown away by noticing that his watercolours are full of opaque paint everywhere in the paintings and almost no paper white saved. It looked like he painted his watercolours like he painted his oils. In his landscapes he seemed to just paint grass over grass with half opaque strokes, and i'm very curious if you know more about his technique when painting watercolour? Because how he made those paintings like that without ruining the paper or making mud with the opaque watercolour is a mystery to me. Anyway i absolutely loved this video and i went straight to Proko to see his course! Thanks!

Really enjoyed this! Thank you for all the valuable information. I-m amazed he can answer questions and paint. It-s one thing to explain what your doing, but answering random questions is impressive. He inspired me to maybe do a few black and white studies and really focus on textures. I enjoy painting with color but it might be nice to remove it so I can focus on refining other aspects of my work.

You are painting from a photograph right? I was just watching an artist who said that if you want to have a loose painting not to paint from a photograph, hello? By looking at your work I find it's not so true what she was saying. Now, what I find fantastic is that you are using only white, cad red, and black and is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing with us your talent.

So mesmerizing. Almost hypnotic. I just love this. so gorgeous. Groovy is definitely a word for it. here forever I am happy to paint abstract and my happiness is when my friends can see me the various results of the abstract painting process that I make. - thank you my friend.

Too many vocalfillers: ums, ahs, so a, but a, ok, right, ya know, ya, said by the artist. This grandma was expecting a more professional presentation. Too bad. The -zorn- palate goes back as far as the first century. Fayum portrait painters used it.

Aaron is my favourite. The guy's art just moves me. And I'm so amazing at this demonstration that I got for free. Like, holy shit. If I had the coin, I would buy the full demonstrations. WHEN I have the coin I will buy it. So amazing.

I much appreciate the flexibility in discovering that practically all hues can be done with a Zorn palette and those 2-3 additional colors. I always wonder why manufacturers are making an average of 70-80 colors. Than who buys them?

Messy, messy, messy palate. You could paint a mural with all that. The cuteness makes this worth watching but the layout is tedious. You piddled around for almost 3 hours and only get a rough out, sigh.
