question on neem oil. so I recently started a worm compost bin with aeration holes and a capture bucket. very simple. anyway I recently had to kill my worms because I had an infestation of maggots and roaches which grossed me out. I used lime to get rid of the nasties. anyway. I stopped overfeeding the worms and stopped putting anything non-vegan in the bin. however I am afraid I may still have roaches since they are attracted to literally every type of food. I started spraying my worms with a bit of mint water. I was wondering if using neem will kill my worms? also does it affect compost bins? I have another bin for larger food scraps.

Kevin; bell rang; it's math class: 4 gallons = 15 Liters. (I always think Liters are Larger therefore it takes fewer, compared to quarts, to fill a gallon. Teaspoons are 5 ml each, so 5 tsp would be 25 ml, not 30 but since it's just soap it's not critical; 6. 5 ounces is 195 ml, so 200 is close enough, no problem there. If you do make it according to the metric numbers, it will be 25% weaker than if using the British-American measures. Which is the original recipe, the metric version?

neem oil is very dangerous especially if advocated by saying its natural. Yes it is natural, and the only reason it exists is to kill animals of every kind. It is known to cause miscarriage and suspected to cause fertility. It is all kinds of bad and has only 1 upside: theoretically it is enough to wait 3 days after use to eat the treated plant. But studies have shown traces of neem compounds even at the 28 days mark.

How can I prevent moths from laying larvae on my plants in the first place though? Those eggs are impossible to wash off my leafy greens and the neem spray won't stop them from laying eggs. I don't want to have to rely on things that kill on contact but.
Also, you said you rarely use neem spray so how do you keep your leafy greens looking good?

I used neem oil a week ago on my plants. Used bottle instructions. Well. almost all my plants leaves died and I had to cut them off. Hoping my garden can recover from this. I honestly thought it would work because I had been seeing bug on my squash plant and green caterpillars on my broccoli. Well, it killed most of my garden when I applied it.

Neem oil is highly toxic if you use it just a tiny bit wrong. it is actually causing hospitalizations every year by the millions and is never identified bc people dont think to tell the emergency room that they ate something that could have had been oil in or on it. DO NOT USE NEEK OIL. IT IS POISON

I treated an orchid that had a case of scale. Just mixed a few drops of neem oil in a little spray bottle with some warm water, added a few drops of Dr Bonners liquid soap to help break up the oil and water, and shook the dickens out of it. My orchid is doing great now.

Anyone know how to get rid of ground hornets. My neighbor cut down some trees while I was doing holes to bury posts for my garden and the darn things have flown over and started building a nest in the holes I have dug. I need to plant and the hornets are in the way.

I read that Neem oil is bad for bees. Neem oil can affect flower pollen & when the bees take it home, it can kill the queen. I think if I use it, I would not use it on flowering plants. or probably not on outdoor plants.

Thank you! I have some sort of beetle (related to pumpkin beetle) attacking my hibiscus and a few other ornamental plants. I have butterfly plants all over the rest of my yard. I will use Neem Oil responsibly as you suggest.

I heard Neem oil is unsafe for skin for kids and dangerous for pregnant women. I've a litre of it and I'm scared to make up anything. I can't remember where I read it. But I definitely read that there was a toxicity.

My cherry tree is getting doused in this solution. Went away for 3 days and it became wretchedly infested with black aphids, and ants carrying them to unaffected branches. Thanks for the cohesive talk-through: )
