How to Build an Easy DIY Compost Bin

Here's a simple compost bin build you can make with wood from a local hardware store, or even DIY it from pallets. It's an extension of the classic 3-bin hot composting system, to add two more bins. This size works well for us at the Epic Homestead due to the size of our garden, and the 5th bin is a great potting soil / finished material storage as well. Eric: You mentioned the front pieces add rigidity, which is a little true, but they only provide compression resistance. You could screw a couple of them (maybe the top and bottom pieces) in to provide a lot more rigidity; and just unscrew them when you want to empty that bin.
Also, I wonder if you could cut some cost, and simplify things a bit, by using the pair of 2x2 in place of the 2x6 on the front edge of the sides.

Might have missed this in the video, but I think only pine was mentioned. Those 1x6 boards look liked Cedar fence pickets, which is a much better material for rot resistance and usually cheaper too.

My wood bins rotted out within 2 years. I have rebuilt using cement blocks had to do that also for my raised beds I m getting to old to keep redoing and wood is to expensive now

If I leave a 6 inch gap, it will fill with weeds, and weedy trees will be heaving the wall next year. Guess the midwest is different than the west.
