Ginger is very healthy. I make homemade Gingerale with lime, ginger, sweetner of choice and seltzer water. I also make a lemon juice, ginger and manuka honey drink. And, I often put it in my coffee. Be careful if you use blood thinners. It will decrease warfarin levels. You should also research Gingerol and Shagaol. These are the active ingredients in ginger. Gingerol and shagaol work differently. Both are good for you. The reason I say this is that when ginger is dried, the gingerol is converted to shagaol. Healthline is a good source of info on this superfood. Enjoy

Hi Kevin! I have not been having any luck getting my ginger to root. I was wondering if conventional Ginger is sprayed with a root inhibitor? I have avoided conventional potatoes for that reason. I'll have to grab some organic ginger and have another go. I ordered some Birdie raised beds today. The voles and/or chipmunks are already eating my unripe strawberries! You are a great inspiration and always have some helpful tips to offer, thanks for all you do!

I tried placing my fresh just purchased ginger in water, I changed the water daily, one time I did miss changing it but only once, about a week of this nothing was happening, then one morning I pulled out the ginger and it smelled awful like it was rotting and slimy. I had to toss it, yuk. For me, I won't do this again I will wait until my grow bags arrive buy another beautiful ginger and just place it in the organic soil. I was so sad.

In my town, you can hardly find any ginger with eyes in the stores. They seem to have caught on to home growers and they are now removing the eyes. in regular grocery stores and in health food groceries. I don't know if that happens at the farm or at the store, but someone, somewhere is determined to keep the growing of ginger out of the hands of us home gardeners.

I freeze my cleaned ginger and then grate it into recipes with a micro-grater. It makes fantastic tea filtered through a tea strainer. It is so fine when grated, it immediately defrosts. There is a local grower near me and he said to bury your yearly stock in very dry sand and then only dig up what you need and it won't mold and stays fresh.

You enabled me finally! I snatched my gf's ginger and planted on a shallowish (around 18 cm deep, 20 cm wide) empty date container. It'll be a surprise to her if it grows well. She is slanted eyed beauty and likes ginger a lot. I will share the result in 3 months. Thanks. I became member now. Regards from Canada.

My ginger plant spreads all over the place. I keep having to cut it back. It produces red cone like flowers. Is that the same ginger you are talking about! Someone said the flowers are jojoba? Can you give me information on that? Are they the flowers that you said are edible?

I've been letting my same ginger rhizome grow in the same pot without harvesting inside in the winter and putting it outside in the summer. It became root bound so I emptied the pot to discover that some of the long roots have little bulbs on their ends. What are they?

You might want to add that those fingers/growths will grow in the direction that they are planted, place your cut off end[butt end ]in the centre of the pot and have the growing points facing the outside of the pot.

In my country we have been using ginger in our kitchen since time immemorial. The title of your video is not its content You did not explain how to plant them in a container. Your video is more of making ginger powder.

For using in tea would it not be better to freeze it after slicing? I use a mandolin to slice garlic and ginger, that way I can get it super thin like paper. lmk about the freezing thanx.

Is Ginger best as a plant form or powder? I guess my question is, does it loose its magic by toasting it? I hear vegetables loose most of their properties when you heat them up alot.

You buried it in a bowl, not even a pot. there's no drainage and no fresh air getting to the roots. Terrible advice, and i suspect you bought the ginger plant from a nursery.

My rhizomes were growing really well in water, I then planted them, gave them an adequate watering and they've died! I live in a warm/hot climate. Please help.
