Thank you, thank you, thank you! I went to so many videos trying to find a clear explanation for EC and TDS and every other person made it made it seem much more confusing than it had to be. I'm only 4 and a 1/2 minutes into your video and you've already given me a much clearer understanding of what these things mean. You are explaining the information technically, but also clearly explaining those things that are specifically important to a grower. Much appreciated!

Sorry but this looks more like a plug for this specific product than what your video title is. Like how you are showing what to look for and how to measure, but I can get a cheap EC meter on amazon for 12 dollars and buy the General Hydroponics testing kit with PH UP/PH down without going thru all this nonsense. The first 6 or so minutes was about the topic and the rest was using the product. Love you and you videos but huge thumbs down on this one. Just sayin.

I use tds meter to calculate ppm for Jacks part A&B. I am having trouble with understanding if the meter calculates as you take individual ppm. I take first count then clear and press hold to make sure its cleared out ready for next measurement. The new count gives very large number comes up. So is the meter calculating even though counts are cleared. Im not confident in counts. I am afraid not giving enough or to much. I would rather use spoonful measurements.

I just bought this meter and didnt know that after a 1000 ppm it goes over to ppt. I usually go as high as 1500 ppm qnd so that's the measurement I usually use so my question is 1. Shoul I use a. 5 or. 7 conversion rate. I have no idea what the other units did. And 2, let's say its 1. 25 ppt. Is that 1250 ppms. Any help from anyone would be nice. Having a hard time finding answers

It seems tds/ec tester could be enough for a farmer to have a frame of reference on when to top up or redo his fertilizer procedures but some times your going to need the chemical break down to focus on a problem or troubleshoot the problem down to the very nutritional chemical deficiency cause. Is there no tester for this. Maybe it's only send away water test sample not sure

In soil growing the have soil test / testers to give you the measurements of all the different major plant chemical N, P, K, calcium, boron. etc what is the equivalent to this in hydroponics growing as the tds / EC seems to only give you not the full story on nutritional break down as well as what floralgrow hydroponic solution to add more of

Thank you for this video, however old it is. I just got an Apera Ph20 the other day. My first reading of my home made soil compost blend is 7. 5. I would like to see 6. 5. Do I have to acidify all of my soil, or just water in some acid fertilizer like Azalea/Blueberry fertilizer. Then take another reading.

Great explanation, the only part I didn't get, is can you either measure EC or TDS, or is it best to measure both? I was totally lost at first with the difference between microSiemens and nanoSiemens, now that I know I just have to choose one that will make my feedings a lot easier. Thank you!

If one use a tds or an ec meter how does the total dissolve solids or electrical conductivity measurements coorospond to how much N or P or K or trace nutrients to add. It only tells you in general what ppm not what constitutes how much nitrogen, phosphorus. etc

I have well water and the EC for it is 0. 40. My 3 part hydroponic solutions guide says to use an EC of 2. 0. Does this mean that I only add 1. 6 EC solution of nutrients for a total of 2. 0 or do I add an EC 2. 0 of nutrients for a total of 2. 4?

Very good explanation. I was familiar with pH testers, pH up / down etc. But was a little confused about the EC and tds tester/ meters and what the difference / what to go with. Now I am ok with it. But have additional one question above

I've watched a dozen videos on this subject and yours is, hands-down, the best one. I realize this is a 4 year old video, but I hope you see this comment. The only thing it was missing was the proper readings for various vegetables.
