I really appreciate and commend the fact that in the very start of the video you claim you're not an expert. Most You tubers, IMO, are just normal people with more or less info than the average (which isn't much sometimes) person. You keep it real and share what you have learned. Although this was a pretty basic overview, you were very clean in your approach and clear in your delivery of information you did share. Kudos.
And on a side note, I wouldn't trust many LED manufacturers just yet as a lot of them aren't completely honest, or their tests aren't real world specific. I've seen a few tests that put a lot of LED fixtures on the market at, or just more or less than the average 600W to 1000W HPS in uMOL's per [whatever] (i don't remember everything. Though they do consume less energy overall. And I have yet to see an LED last as long as they claimed. 15-20 or 20-25 years is a bold statement for a product that has, to my eyes, not even made it this far. I've had CFL's and LED's in normal lighting with those same claims all burn out already, and haven't even been on the market as long, in some cases. Not to mention (I know it's newer tech, but) the pricing on LED's is outrageous for something that costs just as much or less to manufacture than CFL's, in most cases. But then even HPS and CMH (along with everything else labeled as or for growing) are marked up to take advantage of the new masses of people getting into the grow scene. I used to work in Electrical Wholesale. Just my observations and opinions.

No possible way a 190 watt led will put out as much light as a 400 watt MH or HPS in fact a 315 watt CMH will blow the LED out of the water. Your little LED is only going to cover a tiny little footprint like you might be able to veg in a 2x2 tent, with a 315 watt CMH I can veg in a 4x4 tent if I use a parabolic or a bat wing with a diffuser and I can bud with a 400 watt HPS thats four times the footprint so I fail to see LEDs being more economical unless you grow in a shoebox.
I really have nothing against LEDs but you will never convince me that you can replace 400watts of hid with 190 or even 290 watts of LEDs

i have several xenon lights for automotive use, but I'm highly contemplating putting them to use. U think this is a good idea or perhaps it's too much? We're talking 12VDC and each pair of bulbs with ballast draw about 5amps. if i increase the voltage and keep the current low by keeping them at a good temperature I'd wager we're taking 4500k color and easily 2000 lumens. Lights cost be nothing and it beats the hell outta this terrible halogen setup I'm working with presently. They're terrible. so much waisted energy, i could easily cook dinner from the heat wasted

hey hey you're so cute! les get married. haha jkjk. anyway, i have a really dumb question, why can't i just replace all my house lights with grow lights? I live in a poorly lit house and I'm seriously running out of space but am adding new plants to collection and trying to figure out if I can supplement at all by replacing my ceiling fan lights and lamps around house with grow light bulbs. I mean I know they'll work in the fixture, but does it make any difference if the bulb isn't 6-9 away anyway?

Great video--explained a lot. I might be wrong, but in your calculator you are asking for cents, but you really mean dollars, and because of this the calculations are off by a factor of 100. For example, in my area, a kWh is 33c ($0. 33. If I enter in 33, as prompted by the calculator, it tells me that the yearly running cost of a 250w HPS is $36, 135. Or is it just that running a single light bulb for a year can cost the price of an affordable car?

one LED grow light on Amazon said that it's bulb only had about 500 hours of life. that's 50 days of ten hour growing days. Also, you have to buy the replacement bulbs from their web site, and I was looking at the sites that replaced the bulbs, and none of them wanted to give the prices of the replacement bulbs. It might be cheaper, like inkjet printers, to just buy the whole lighting system again at $20 than to buy the replacement bulbs.

Hello! I'm trying to figure out a good lighting system for my indoor plants. My plants are in my classroom on shelves and we have zero windows. I can leave lights on when I'm there (7am-3pm or 7am-6pm) and take them home during breaks. But I'm not sure what sort of light system will help my plants thrive. Mostly succulents and low effort plants like spider plants, snake plants, etc. Thanks for your help in advance!

Had this doubt and didn't really know what video to put in so:
When it comes to light diffusion, is it good or reduces the effect on our plants?
I've been reading lots of articles saying it's beneficial but at the same time, as a filmmaker, by difusing the light you're reducing its intensity so.
I just wanna know if I have to sacrifice mood in my room by taking diffusion off of my lights, basically.

Very nice video. My goal is to propagate my herbs all winter in Michigan & start my flowers from seeds so theyre ready to be planted after the last frost. Do you have a LED light you recommend? Just spent the last 6 hours researching and my head is swimming with facts but no precise decision. Also want to keep my mandevilla vines still alive inside all winter. Thank you for your help!

kevin hi. what is the minimum wattage equivelent for an indoor houseplant, ie: a lemontree start? i bought a 24watt led grow bulb on Amazon for supplimental lighting. Did I waste my money buying this? which is better, a shop light at 4, 000Kelvin or a full spectrum grid light to grow indoors until summer? I live in zone 5b so it won't be warmuntil may.

Is 8900 Lumens 6500K good enough to grow out lettuce and kale when spread out over 4 to 6 square feet?
I just bought some GE 4' long T8 LED bulbs that are rated to 2300 Lumens each. Got a 10pk at Lowe's for $74 plus tax.
I will be putting them on a pulley system and will be keeping the light just off of the plants as they grow.

I bought me a 75 watt L. E. D purple light. From Wal-Mart and it claims to give the correct color spectrum light for vegitation stage and flowering stage. I started of with. 3 cfl but ended making. Up the switch. Has anyone or anybody. Know if the claims are true. Compared to the professional L. E. D lights

hi. do u have a video on grow light for inddor plants? well, most of the growlights are actually for growing vegetables and flowers. But, how about for regular houseplants with no flower? do u think it's worth it investing on expensive full spectrum GL? thank you for your reply
