Microgreens are a nutritional powerhouse that just happen to be one of the easiest types of plants to grow in ANY living space. Even if you're in a tiny New York apartment, you can grow microgreens. Today we're growing a spicy lettuce salad mix. a simple mix to grow due to fast and easy germination and minimal issues with mold, etc. At the end, I'll show you the simplest way to prepare them in the kitchen to enjoy them at peak freshness. It doesn't get any better than this!

Couple thoughts: If you leave the cut tray for a couple of weeks, it will grow to nice baby greens. I do this a lot if I have the room. There are seeds that do grow right away, or plants that were too small to be cut. These will grow nice into baby greens.
My other thought is why turn the soil in compost bin? I have worked out a method that you can replant with microgreens and reuse the soil right away. To do it, cut your microgreens as usual, then come back and cut the tray even with the soil level. Then put a thin layer of seed starter and replant. I have trays that last for months this way. I also put worms in my trays which makes it all work as the worms keep the soil good for several months.
Anyway, nice video

What is that? It almost looks like a cress but it is not a watercress. If you are not familiar with watercress you should do a little research on it and them maybe a video just on that because watercress is so healthy and so incredibly good for you. It is so easy to grow and it does grow pretty fast and it just grows and you cut it and it will grow and you cut almost all year.

Thats not lettuce. The end product is radish, it can be eaten as micro greens but again the video at end product is radish. People are going to end up relying on these types of gardening procedures especially through winter months. Be really nice if this would be tried again with lettuce.

I am trying to find methods of growing food for my freshwater shrimp to be more self-sufficient. Microgreens look like a good alternative but it seems cutting the tips would kill the growing plant instead. It seems a fully grown and matured lettuce/salad mix is still a better way.

I want some! Now! Microgreens look yummy! I know I like sprouts that are used in oriental cooking, too. I can't wait to shop for seeds. I have chia seeds and maybe radishes and stuff for my garden. Maybe half can be used as microgreens. Woopee!

Have you heard of the clean method where you lay down organic paper towel on top of the soil so the harvesting is easier? I saw that recently and thought it was a brilliant idea for cleaner harvesting of microgreens.

Funny you mentioned Plato's cave. I was literally just thinking about how I wasn't growing and foraging my own food and making my own wine when I was just another shadow on that cave wall. You're a good shit

You add water to the bottom of the tray before seeding and mist during germination, but what about once the covers come off? Still just a daily mist or do the greens require more water as they green up and grow?

in both your videos, this one and the complete guide, you use no holes' trays, how you water the tray after the green is germinated? usually you do bottom watering using a double tray. just little confused

How? I've planted lettuce twice now (the first batch was harvested by my cats, and mine start forming the first real leaf 8-10 days after germinating. I'm growing Lollo Rossa and Lollo Bionda mix though.

Thx for the informative vid. Just a wanted to ask what happens after the harvest? Do they regrow? If so how many times? Or once u cut it you throw it out and restart the whole process? Thanks

You can try blending the greens into some boiled chicken to make a chicken salad or add the rest of ghe broth into the chicken mix to make a stew. You can also combine them into your spaghetti.
