Turn Any Pot Into a Hanging Pot!

Turn Any Pot Into a Hanging Pot!

My friend Ryan Benoit of The Horticult just launched SkyPots, a way to turn any normal pot w/ a drainage hole into hanging pots that you can chain together. You could definitely DIY something like this, but some of the design choices Ryan made I really prefer over a DIY - the sealed flanges prevent leaking while also allowing diffused drainage to the pots below. It's also REALLY sturdy and keeps the pots from moving around or jiggling. Ryan has been an engineer for 20 years, but is in love and obsessed with plants just like I am. This is his first project and it's been really fun to see him put so much effort and time into it, and I really want to see this succeed for him. I figured I'd bring it to you guys to see what you thought!

Great video, thanks! My father is a long time Cactus enthousiast, he always told me to absolutely never give cactae water from above like in this vid. Doesn't happen in nature either & will make their root system rotting. Just so you'all know now. Best regards!

This is a great idea, i think that it might be great for outdoors but i'd be hesitant to put them indoors because i don't really like the aesthetic of the thick metal hangers, looks too industrial for my taste.

Way back when I was in my 20s, I did something like this to hook two flower pots together. When you have a dad whose hobbies are woodworking and mechanics, you get to learn a lot about hardware.

Wow! This is one of those simple things that makes me go duh, why didn't anyone think of this before? Lol. Very cool creation, I put it on my Christmas list and shared about it!

okay first of all I want to know how does the water drain out of it second of all I want to know how do you not make a mess all over the floor when you water it?

My father used to hang his herbs in the kitchen like this, and that was way back in the eighties. Not what you call a new invention

Im trying to grow salad greens on my covered patio. I could hang this directly beneath my skylight. It would solve my rabbit problem, too.

Soooooo. Bolts, washers and eyelets from Lowes 1/4 the cost. But bottom plant collecting salts or other leeched runoff from above?

I would imagine these pots get extremely heavy. Do you have to secure them to a stud in order for them not to pull your ceiling down?

I'm in! Such a game changer for not only indoor displays but for fuller utilization of vertical space in the greenhouse as well!

Great idea. I'm off down to bnq to get threaded rod, wide washers a sink drain and nuts with loops and make my own.

It's cool but doesn't having the drainage hole raised create a resovoir of stagnant water around the base of the pot?

as someone who really doesn't like those macrame hangers, this is a much more appealing look to me. well done!

Even though the Kickstarter campaign didnt meet goal, I was able to go to Skypots. com to place an order.
