so for the black radish, if you dont like the taste of it for eating i have a tip: if you or someone in your family wake up with a sore troth (or just sings of a cold) just take a spoon cut the black radish top part and make a hole in the center of it then put sugar in it and cover the hole preferably with the top you just cut (like a halloween pumkin) then let it sit for an half an hour and drink that sirop, its the best cold medicine you need without going to the farmacy because of all the vitamins in that radish. Here in Romania we do this more often because it more natural that way (and its tasty too so you will have no problems if you have little kids that wont take medications) but just the black radish works in this way because it already a little bit more juicy and sugary then other types

Just picked up a bunch of seeds from menards, burpees of course-they can be quite a bit when you end up buying like 20 at once. .;; ;
Got a good number of different cucumbers including one I'm excited for, a lemon cucumber, found something cool, a purple radish I'm excited about, and various herbs/lettuce greens.
now I just need to make my raised beds. I have a feeling I won't be planing a lot outside this year, but I'll try planting some of the purple radishes and lemon cucumbers in a pot because I don't think I can wait on those and save some seeds for next year. maybe even let them go to seed to see if I can regrow the same plant. .

I bought marketmore cucumber seeds because of your inspiration. I don't like cucumbers much but have friends who do. This year has been a terrible lack of sunshine year for some of us gardeners north of the 49th parallel. Temperatures dropping below 60 ferenheit at night no good for water melons: -( or much of anything else. Shaded lettuce did not bolt and did well except attacked by slugs. Not appetizing! Holding back on starting seeds in hopes we get some warmth this year. Investing in solar and LED lights as so many plants will not finish or thrive in current lack of natural sunlight.

These are good to grow from seed because you don't need to start them indoors, not everybody has the room for that, and a lot can go wrong. But for someone who has a small garden, or just doesn't want too much of a crop, starts are a good way to go. The only reason I plant more than one zucchini or melon is that you have a backup if one dies! It is so easy to have an overabundance of zukes. But starts often come in 4 or 6 packs. A good strategy is to share seeds, or starts.

I'd like to build off a comment from Mavis 235, the thing that makes your vids my new go-to are you talk to people, it's not a lecture, you don't speak down to those with
little-to-no experience, your comments are honest who really likes Beets LOL, but then you made me want to try them a new way. you make your tips affordable, you share your mistakes so we don't feel like failures. and so few ever reply to comments or questions once they get a following. I'm all in Brother.

The only seeds I've managed to grow. aren't even from me, it's from my already grown plants just spitting them out in random places. I seem to have a knack for bringing them back from the dead though! I've gotten multiple plants on clearance at different places, all of them wilted and really pathetic looking, likely just needed water in all honestly, and less sun, but they all perked up and have been living ever since

I watched this video after starting my garden. Turns out, I planted 8 of the 9 crops mentioned. The only one missing is beets. This is my first year, but I'm already planning next year's garden.
My broccoli sprouted, but then never went anywhere beyond sprouts. I'll try kale next year.
My lettuce and carrots haven't come up at all. I might try to replant. Our summers are usually mild.

Thanks for the videos I really enjoy watching your videos. My raised bed that I grew my garlic in has a ant home in it every yr that box get ants what can I grow in it after the garlic and after I get rid of the ants any advice on the ants would be great. 1 more question I think a bag of my potatoes may have blight do I throw that potting mix away? Or can it be used again

Had a good sized container filled with radish growing and in the last few days nearly everything died except for two plants that bloomed and have gone to flower. Since theres quarantine in my country(Ireland) it's gotten harder to get seeds delivered here. So I guess in a sense I'm lucky, now I get to use these seeds the flowers leave to try again

Can you take the shell off the sunflower seed and germinate it from that? A lot of hard shelled seeds need the shell removed to get 'instant' germination results. For example I've broke the shells of plums and lemons to get them to germinate. I am trying germinating olives after cracking them. well see. Will sunflower seeds work the same?

How do you deal with slugs eating young-ish cucumber plants? Had 4 good leaves and flowers, planted seedling in garden. All gone the next day.
Beets: boil for 1 hour, remove skins, cut in small chunks, throw in pan and 'boil' in some butter, orange juice and a load of honey until that turns into a sticky sauce.
