How to Grow Garlic (Part 2) Water, Fertilizing, Pests & Diseases c. a. : Some grow tips.
1) NEVER feed after 9 am. the heat of the day causes root burn - feed firs thing in the morning.
2) NEVER feed on dry soil. causes root burn, nutrient lock out- deficiencies in mobile micro and macro nutrients
3) for a nitrogen boost, use coffee grounds and left over coffee from the pot( no cream or sugar ) you can soak the used grounds in water, ( tea bags too) Then pour on ground and mix in the grounds. instantly available to the plant.
4) plant between roses. smell keeps the deer away.
5) like onions, they must be loosened, left for a couple of days to harden off before picking and braiding stocks to hang and dry.

My suggestion for making better content would be to consider all us outside of the US who use the metric system to please include metric units for dimensions, mass and temperature. As you can imagine having to convert from a non-international inferior system isn't productive.
As of 2019, the USA is the only country that has not officially adopted Metric / SI System, even though the Metric Conversion Act from 1975 made the metric system the preferred system of weights and measures for U. S. trade and commerce

I started my garlic last October (I'm in Colorado) and was ecstatic to see that it survived the winter and is coming up through the mulch. This is the first time I've been successful with garlic. I've got a long way to go and we're still getting snow and cold temps, but hopefully it will survive! Really enjoyed this video. We have quite a few skunks around here and I have that they don't discover the garlic!

I have garlic that I planted last fall. A month ago we had a fire that destroyed our garage, right by where I planted the garlic. Does anyone know if I can transplant garlic after it's sprouted? I could leave it, but with demolition and such I'd probably lose a bit. My thought is, I might lose it either way. Any thoughts?

I almost passed on viewing this video until I saw 10 Types of Garlic. I love garlic and yet I've never even considered planting anything other than the grocery store cloves I picked up a few years ago and keep replanting as I harvest them. Looks like its time to stretch my garlic boundaries!

Hi Kevin/Everyone, in the first video about garlic around the 10: 20 part of the video Kevin picked something out of the soil and threw it away. What was it? It's driving me crazy I've been scrolling through comments for like 20 minutes on that video and still found nothing. Please help!

I had a problem with skunks digging up my garden. After repairing and replanting 3x, I put light weight bird netting down, and planted in holes in cut. The skunk dug a little, but when it hit the bird netting it seemed to think it was a trap, cause it left and never returned!

Hey kevin! I have a client that had hundreds of hardneck garlic wildly growing in his beds (he is a bit of a hoarder and the yard was unkept when he moved in 2 years ago) i harvested some and hoping i can transplant some and eat the rest. Any tips would be amazing! Thanks!

Thanks Kevin for all your videos - it's nice to have a web resource for warmer climates - I'm in the low desert in Phoenix (zone 13) and planted my garlic last fall - I know I'm coming up on harvest - but I don't know how I know when. I can't wait to see your next video.

I have successfully grown garlic for more than 50 years. I always plant on the shortest day of the year and harvest on the longest day of the year. The varieties make no difference to this technique. Thanks for your entertaining (we want big bulbs) video.

My garlic stalks are nearly an inch thick at this point and i havent given them a drop of fertilizer. Just a ton of compost and amendments in November. Would adding fertilizer now effect the flavor or just be unnecessary?

I started the vernalization process about 4 weeks ago with the cloves in some potting mix and placed in the fridge. I already have a root system on every clove. First time growing garlic. Keep up the great video content.

I planted lots of garlic for the first time last fall. They survived the week of severe frost and are starting to grow again, after not growing much throughout the winter. Wishing good garlic harvests on us all: )

I've bounced back that botanical enchantment you sent my way. Hoping it helps on your garlic journey this year. Looking forward to more garlic videos, especially any that involve the culinary uses of scapes.

Not even gonna lie. I planted my garlic in my raised bed in the late fall. I then left it alone. It is still going strong. I left it alone. It's still going strong. I keep wondering when I should dig it up.
