HI Kevin! Firstly, thank you for your always informative videos! Secondly, I kindly request a TRUE PLANT 101 Training Video. I'm talkin' Planting-101 knowledge here, for the absolute beginner. I LOVE plants. and kill them all. even mint. Could you make a video covering (in probably annoyingly common knowledge detail)
1) what does dry soil look like vs wet soil (particularly in pots vs garden)
2) what does root rot look like on a plant? (perhaps in specific plants? ie. basil, mint etc)
3) what's the difference b/w soil for potting, seeding, gardening, & compost?
4) how to save plants that you've killed. if there is any hope.
I have watched most of your videos covering some of these topic, but I find myself wishing for close ups of dry vs wet soil, comparisons of plants that have been over watered vs under watered, and wishing for true beginner knowledge like. what is full sun vs indirect
Thanks for your content! I love all your vids - I also request more B-roll of beautiful plants: )

I really like your content! I am a student living in a small apartment, I really wish to have a small garden next time I move, but for now, I make do with pots in the windows. I live in Scandinavia, and my apartment has only windows to the north, have managed to grow successful chilli peppers and herbs still, but I can feel the plants struggle.
I understand that you primarily work outside, but I would like to hear your thoughts on gardening indoors, under non-ideal conditions, on limited space and budget. In one of your videos, I think you mentioned you had done indoors hydroponics? Is that worth looking into? I considered it once, but didn't know where to start: )

I just dropped 2 potatoes on the ground, stood them up and covered in grass clippings no water, i did do a slightly different method earlier in the year just using the grass as mulch but i am very curious to see how the lazy way works out, also have 2 in a very shallow Charles Dowding style bed but with a bit of sugsr cane mulch. All kinds of experiments going on here also a lettuce growing in the crotch of a tree that has the greatest natural soil built up from fallen leaves decomposing, there was/is grass growing in it so i pulled some out and popped a little seedling in there

So planning on finally putting in 3 raised beds to start. Ive watched almost all of your videos and still feel kinda lost in how to start out. Im in pa our zone is 5b i think, planning to do potatoes, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, strawberry, lettus, ginger an herbs mainly. The beds are probably going to be 4x8 or 3x6. Im stuck on 3 main problems. 1 soil, 2 watering each correctly, 3 feed. Im going to start a compost bin this year but need to know what soil is best to use should i mix some of my ground soil in?

So you say hilling is a waste of time and then you turn around two minutes later and you say you should hill them to keep the green off of them. The truth is you have to hill them just for that one reason to keep the sun off of them, then mulch them to keep down the weeds. I've grown potatoes for probably 40 years and if you don't pull something up over the potato. you're going to be discouraged when it comes time to pick them and you see all the tops are green on them. Potatoes need to be covered up.

I need your advice Kev, I planted my zucchini, squash and cucs 2 weeks ago, all had true leaves, as soon as the real sun hit (80's) a few days ago, they're all wilting and sagging, only huge umbrellas saved them from an early grave? I follow your instructions, amended the soil, watering carefully. why are my seedlings so stressed? Thanks my friend, I wouldn't ask for individual advice, but it's my entire spring and 2 mos of hard work in jeopardy.

I would love to try my hand at planting a few things, see if I like it, but I have a gigantic oak tree in my backyard that bears a ton of fruit/nuts every year and therefore, tons of squirrels and the occasional raccoon. Should I just abandon the idea right now? (Nothing scares these guys, they're slowly eating through my tulip bulbs and the ones they leave to grow, they eat the flowers the second they bloom)

I have no gardening experience and my first attempt was when I was severely depressed and couldn't keep up. I'm giving basil a go, since it apparently grows well in Florida, and I'm trying to let my mom's hyacinth birthday gift go dormant so she can have it year after year. You've been an absolute help for my journey after getting out of my rut, so thank you for that

These are great tips! I direct sowed some lettuce under my peas. I hope the peas provide some shade for it to not bolt as fast once temps warm up here in TN. I also started lots of seeds for summer. My mom was like. what did you start? Me: What DIDN'T I start is a better question. lol!

Thank you so much for your videos! You have inspired me to start 4 raised beds this year in my small garden with a variety of staple fruit and veg, and it's all going well so far! Looking forward to seeing more videos from your homestead.

I've grown chamomile and cosmos before. Chamomile reseeds itself, just like my sunflowers did. The cosmos did not come back the following year; but, every now and then, I would find a random cosmos plant growing where I had not planted any.

When you say One seed potato per 5 gallons of soil, do you mean one seed potato TOTAL, or one chunk of seed potato with an eye on it? Mine are a bit large so I am planning to divide them some, and not sure how this is counted.

My hundred by hundred feet empty lot is rocky, sandy, yet hard as cement. I plan to sprinkle mullein seeds and clover and water all year to encourage a creation of a bit of loamy topsoil. Meanwhile.
