Forcing Branches Garden Answer Gigi: Thanks! I knew about doing this, particularly with members of the prunus family, but had no idea it worked with lilacs. I am watching your videos out of order so I've already seen a follow-up where the lilacs have leaves and flower buds. I planted 3 lilacs last year, but one is in more shade than I realized, another the deer have eaten every leaf that came out, and, the third might be okay, LOL. Perhaps one day I will have enough branches on them to try this. I can't imagine much nicer than having forced lilac branches while it is still cold outside.

My husband cut down a lilac bush in the fall because it was in our way. I saw yesterday that the cut brush in the garden is budding. I am going to take branches from it and see what happens. I also want to see if I can root some to plant in a better spot. Do you have any suggestions?

I always learn so much from you. I have white and purple lilacs in my backyard. they're my favorite flowers. maybe because their scent is nastalgic of my childhood. I would love to see all of the plants you've forced in a future video to see how pretty they get: D

Do you know of any species that you could propagate in this manner while also getting the blooms? I know a number of woody plants can take root from cuttings, but I can't think of any off hand that also have a decent bloom to them as well.

How did these do? I forced some the same day this video came out, and while they did bloom, they blooms were very small, probably 10 times smaller than they are blooming outside. I was thinking maybe other flowering branches work better.

WOW! I didn't know you could force branches! One of my very fav flowers is lilacs and there is a park near me with massive bushes or 10 foot tall. I am going to try this! Love this video!

I promptly went outside and cut off my lilac bush. We shall see if it works. In any event, it needs some major cutting back this year anyhow. Thanks for sharing!

This looks so pretty! Quick question: do you have to add the floral preservative each time you change out the water or do you add that the first time?

Hello Laura. I was wondering if you have a video on the terrarium that's on the table in this video? If not could you do one, Thanks Dawn.

Wow, I have to try this. I watched the commercial just before your video and it was about grafting fruit trees, it was interesting
