US Plant Zones: Explained Garden Answer Eugene: Laura, you encouraged planting 2 zones lower for hardiness in cold weather temperatures. I live in Florida (Zone 9a) and we are more worried about heat rather than cold. Would you suggest planting only for Zone 9 plants or are there theories about planting at a higher zone for the heat? I hope that made sense. Thank you so much for your videos. You have truly inspired me to plant a small vegetable garden of Roma Tomatoes, Green/Red Bell Peppers, Cubanelles, Jalepenos along with Tuberose bulbs, Kalanchoes and some Salvias and Gerbera Daisies.

Correction here: Supertunia, grow except to zone 10 -11 means not in these zones, you said it is growable in these zones, WHICH IS WRONG. You talked very fast and I think that you presumed everybody understands when you were rushing through your speech. Zone 10 and 11 will be scorching hot, right? I checked again and it will definitely kill that plant and it is using common sense knowledge. I had to go back twice and catch your mistake. I know that we all make mistakes.

So the zones are more about winter hardiness is what I'm understanding from your video. Correct? Meaning I don't have to be too concerned about the summer heat? Or how do I apply Zone maps for summer. opposite thought process of winter? (Ex. if zone 9 I can plant zone 6 or 7 out of the afternoon sun and it won't die from too much heat)

Hello gardening and planting is one of my favorite hobbies question what hardiness zones are for spruce trees in one of my catalogs there is a weeping Norway spruce frohberg it's listed for zones 3-9 this 9 zone is in Texas what would zones 3-9 mean and what are the expected possible chances of it surviving the climate?

Sadly, our growing centers willingly sell stuff that will die in our areas. It's atrocious that they do this. Angers me to no end that they do this to people that haven't a clue at all about that sort of thing. It took me awhile to learn all of this sort of stuff, the USDA Map says I'm a Zone 5b when I'm actually a 5a.

I wonder if you can suggest any gardeners to follow in zone 9B or close by with a similar gardening style to you. I absolutely love you but would be nice to see a closer reference for inspiration. All I can find around here are food gardeners which I lile too but I need inspiration for my flower beds.
