Planting Pearl Glam Beautyberry Garden Answer mary: These grow wild here in north Florida. I love them but chickens and other fowl do also. I also learned that the juice from the berries is good BUT the seeds are very poison so you have to be careful when squishing the berries not to ever break one of the seeds open. These are beautiful bushes but most people her just clear them out as weeds. So sad. Just like dandelions which I have planted in my garden - love my morning cup of steeped blossoms for Vit. C. I'm so glad to know that people do realize their beauty and are growing them.

You still have this plant Laura? Love to see you use it in a floral arrangement sometime! This is why I bought the one I did for all the Dahlia arrangements I used to make. Sadly I left it at my last home - which I kick myself for! Not just because I miss the beautiful little neon purple berries, but because the guy that bought my hosue ripped out all of my plantings I had put in! I have yet to have seen another one since moving down to Eugene from Portland!

Can you please update us on this area and give us some information about how the plant has done and tips for growing it? I bought 7 of these plants (baby plants) because I saw how excited you got about them and I wanted to try something new. You looked so happy to have it and I was excited to get it! Please please update: -)

I really want the beautyberry japonica, also OK for zone 5, But its always sold out or only sold in 3 gallon sizes as a shipped item if available at all. It has lighter, green leaves, I think that makes the berries stand out better, but I am settling for this as well, because its the only one I can get!

Found it! Mine doesn't look as good as yours. yet, but I am hoping it will. I only found one nursery in my area (Chilliwack BC) that carries the Pearl Glam variety. I would love to see an update on it's growth in your garden Laura. I am curious to see that it performs the way it states. Thanks!

Beautiful plant! I like your idea of adding more of those around the base of that statue. I think that would look awesome! I would love to see a video of you pruning that Salvia. That is how mine looks and I am not sure how to cut it back. Wondering if I take it all the way to the ground.

In the park across the street from us they have a raised bed of a sane type of bush about 20 foot long and 5 foot wide
Bright green foliage and bright purple berrys
They cut them back to the ground each spring
I wanted some in our garden but there just isnt and space

Beautiful shrub but I'm in zone 4. I do have a sheltered area with 3 Japanese maples which are thriving even tho they are usually zone 5. Love your videos which I only discovered a week ago. Congrats on your baby boy, he is adorable.

I love beauty berries and have two. I don't have that variety and the variety I have does best in the shade. I'm a zone 8 and we don't have harsh winters but mine die back to the ground in the winter and show back up each spring.

Found these at Bachmann's this summer, the variety they have has pink berries green leaves. This is a Minnesota nursery so if you can check it out next summer. Bought two so I'll update next spring for our local gardeners.
