Planting Hellebores #67
video description
I love hellebores. The pots turned out very pretty. I hadn't really thought of planting them in pots; but, love the look. I'll be interested to see where you put them in your garden. This seems like another good opportunity to ask you (again) what is the name of that peachy, coral tulip that was just starting to break ground a little bit? I was so impressed with them in the other place you put them that I'm thinking of planting some this fall. I just haven't heard/understood its name; so, if you could give me the spelling of it then I'll know what to get. They're one of the prettiest tulips I've ever seen, too. Imho. Thanks again for sharing some of your special life. May God continue to bless you and your wonderful family. I just love you ALL!

seriously?
I planted a bed of yellow and red hellebores under my chinese magnolia and it did well for two years This year it awoke from winter HEAVILY invested with aphids packed tight right down to the crowns. All of them. Covered the undersides of leaves, & blooms couldn't see the foliage color or flowers through the infestation! Shocked I sprayed with insecticidal soap. Killed first round. 2days later just as thick as previous days infestation. Resprayed with soap. 2nd kill. Three days later just as thick as ever! Sprayed with malathion. 3rd kill. Three days later just as infested! Dug them all up and threw them out. Planted epimedium. They are thriving.

Hi, I'm a guy from Scotland who came across your YOU TUBE site by chance. I have gardened all my life ever since I was 12yrs old when my parents gave me a small plot in their garden. I have recently had to give up my house which had a large garden and have had to down size house and garden for medical reasons but have been lucky to end up with a patio which I have had great pleasure in planting up with pots of varying sizes. Watching your videos has given me great pleasure and spend rainy days watching them. Keep up the good work. Ian

Hellebores are one of my favorite. My one lenten rose is HUGE almost 3 ft wide by 20 inches tall and I love it, especially for the dark green star-shaped foliage. I planted it abt 8 years ago.
It was one of the very first plants I planted on my own that I didn't manage to kill.
The blooms vary from creamy white to chartreuse, honestly a little underwhelming, but that's ok.
I should probably divide it so I get a few clones then mass plant.

Hellebores are amazing! A friend gave me one about 4 years ago. she had bought an old house with a very overgrown and neglected garden. She came across a few hellebores and knew I had always wanted some, and gave one to me. It was in rough shape, and last winter (Feb2017) I discovered it blooming for the first time. The blooms lasted for months! Some day I plan on having a large patch of them under the oak tree.

Thanks for sharing. I am really enjoying your videos and learning so much. I am very much like you and just adore flowers and gardening in general. Any given weekend I am out in the garden or in a nursery. You get to be creative in the garden and share your creation with your neighbours while they walk past your home. I now how a list of flowers I want to go out and buy.

I just have to say, I'm almost 6 months pregnant right now and planning (as much as you can plan for these things) a natural birth. I really don't want a c-section but watching you run around and bend and lift so soon after yours, makes me way less scared of the recovery after the possibility of needing one. You seem to be handling it like a BOSS.

I love my hellebore and have been searching for more every year but it's always the same variety. I will be ordering me several this year. The one I have has been blooming since New year's and it's still beautiful and full of flowers in the middle of May. Can't beat this plant in my opinion. Love your videos. Seriously all of them.

I shared your excitement when you came across those bulb tips just breaking through. that is the most exciting discovery in gardening for me (I live in Maine, so the first bulbs are a big deal) Your little Benjamin is a very pretty baby, by the way, you'll have so much fun with him outside this summer!

love how you bring to our attention specific plants and give details about them. So many I haven't seen or heard of. I think it was you who said Helleborus is great for ugly shade. I got three of them in white, red and pink. Ugly shade is a challenging area and these plants are gorgeous.
