Planting Hyacinths and Amaryllis Garden Answer Joyce: I'm very late to this video. I had a baby in June and am now catching up daily as my 6 month old has his naps. I have a pot full of small amaryllis bulbs that were babies from one bulb (maybe half the size of the ones you plant here) that are just sitting there as foliage year round. I let them go dormant one year but totally forget each year to do that until it's too late. So I just enjoy the foliage. Any tips on dealing with the babies that probably won't bloom anyway? Any ideas on how to get them to grow larger so that maybe they eventually will bloom? I'm guessing you might not see this question but if anyone else does, please feel free to enlighten me! And if you do see this and have an answer, I'd love to hear it in a future video. I'll see it. I watch 99% of your videos. ;)

I love that you planted a bunch of Hyaicnths this year too! I changed up my Fall bulb flower bed this year, and instead of my usual Tulips and Daffodils I planted only Hyaicnths! I've never planted them before, but I'm really excited and hopeful that they will turn out beautifully. I used TONS of all brand new garden soil, and 180 new Hyacinth bulbs from my local garden center. I planted Carnegie too, along with Blue Star and Delph Blue. They make me so itchy and a little rashy too, but it's worth it! I can't wait for Spring for our Hyacinths to bloom!

This doesn't have anything to do with this video but I went to my local Lowe's today and they had hundreds of succulents on clearance! Even the ones in the Beautiful pots that were regularly $25 were marked down to $4 and the ones and the Disposable pots we're between $0. 50 and $1. I know Lowe's stores are different in different areas but it's worth a shot to look! They had one little rack of regular price succulents and I was shopping there and happened to look over at the clearance and literally Twelve Tables full!

A lady in the comments asked about a garden planner and I think it would be wonderful for Garden Answer to produce a garden planner where you can write down what you planted, where, when things need to be done, etc. And maybe some gardening tips throughout! So I'm posting the comment here hoping I get enough likes that you will consider it! With your gardening expertise and creativity I know it would look absolutely amazing and make our lives easier too. Please consider making one!

I've planted them outside a month ago and now they are huge. I live in Finland! zone 6. they are 3-4 inches above ground now. The temp at night will be dropping to at the end of 5 this month. Day temp is still 10-16, but will be dropping to 8-10.
What do I do?
Will they wanna bloom now or in the spring?
I am confused because the package of bulbs said to plant them now.
SO WEIRD! PLEASE HELP!

Lol Im on a roll now with watching these very old videos! Ive planted some bulbs in pots already this fall and am nervous about their making it through the winter without moving them to the garage - which isnt an option for window boxes etc. Fingers crossed. Beautiful project; I hope I can find the results!

oh my word! i'm going to try this (i think) in the pots i have lining my front wall up to the front door. i think the amaryllis should do fine here in southern california. this will be so much prettier (says i) than the poinsettias i was thinking of. hmmmm. project #987, 695, 933! :)

It's going to be so elegant. it already is! I was thinking of starting some Paperwhite bulbs in green planters and adding grass seed all around the bulbs. If I start it early enough, I hope to have the stalks rising out if a little sguare if baby grass! What do you think?

Beautiful arrangement even without the amaryllis grown in, can't wait to see how this looks when they are blooming! Looking forward to your Christmas decor tour. We have snow on ground in Connecticut and I still have tulips to plant, yikes

Dog tore up hyacinth - bulb still in tact, but roots are damaged other than one piece of the root. Potted, again, tightly in a terracotta pot, but stems and stalk are wilting. Still green, but leaves are yellowing. How can I revive it?
