Oh wow, Ive always noticed vermiculite sprinkled on top of the starter plants I buy every year at the farmers market but never knew what it was and never thought to ask. I just always assumed it was random stuff that fell in lol. Im actually starting my own plants from seed this year (except the peppers, because I can never get them to sprout, to save money. Ill have to get and use some of that. Thanks!

Love your videos. I am a relatively new gardener. Your timing is impeccable; you always seem to hit on topics just when I need answers! That said, I eagerly clicked on your perlite and vermiculite video and was very disappointed to find it not captioned. I have revisited it several times in the hope that captions were added. Sigh! No such luck.
Please help!

TLDR can vermiculite be used to cover grass seed immediately after planting. We use peat moss tondo the same water holding function but when you as said vermiculite is inert and reduces plant disease. That would solve a major issue, and possibly make planting a new lawn in mid summer a realistic option instead of spring and fall.

Thanks for the video! Is this an either or situation or can you mix both? I ask since one works with aeration and the other with moisture retention. In case you need to do both, can they both be mixed in with the soil in a container situation? Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your very informative videos! I always learn a lot from you. May I know if I can use the perlite to my blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, black currants and grapes which I will all plant in different containers?

So for a fairly clayish garden that doesn't hold water well should I just use vermiculite, or perlite, or 50/50?
Can I just toss it on top and water it in, or do I have to fully till it in?
I'm in Colorado if that helps.
Thanks: )

It's kinda hilariously funny that both your bags of perlite and vermiculite say organic in huge letters. considering that both are inorganic compounds. But for the weak minded anything Organic must be better right?

If someone knows where to find Vermiculite please share how to find.
I ordered vermiculite and they sent me perlite. The label said perlite 100% Vermiculite but it's not any vermiculite I ever bought.

Thank you so much for explaining the difference between the two. For awhile I didn't even think there was a difference. So thx for clearing that up. Because of you I've learned a lot, thank you again.
