New Annuals for 2020 Garden Answer Don: Laura - Enjoyed your chat about annuals. One thing tho, I have had a problem with Thrips, Leafminers, Caterpillars and other pests eating the beginnings of flowers (annuals in containers)about mid season. I have to be diligent about spraying and watering with Monterey insect spray and insect control, otherwise - no flowers. Do you not have this problem? I live in a zone 8 area so may be that is the problem. Any thoughts on that?

My mom is selling a house in WA and was stressing about how to make it have more curb appeal without investing a ton of time and money so I immediately suggested Supertunia Vista and Lemon Coral Sedum planted in layers. It was so awesome to be able to give her advice based on all the wonderful things you teach us. Thank you for everything you do. Much love.

I hope this is not a dumb question but I have always loved gardening but its so expensive to get as many flowers as I want. I have a pretty small yard but I want to fill it! Do you think I should go with mostly seeds to save money or do you think starters are the way to go to ensure growing success? Thank you for all your great videos!

LOVE your fast paced no nonsense presentations. The BEST part is paired: young plantings, then mature; in ground vs containers; combinations with other plants. Also appreciate advice on maturity rates, self cleaning as I plant containers for clients. ALL your videos are incredibly valuable - you are the best presenter EVER

I don't get the whole these ones thing? It's a very common thing to say, and I certainly don't think it's odd! Is it even 'technically' incorrect grammar? If you would say these flowers grow 30 inches tall, then why is saying these ones grow 30 inches tall wrong? You're just substituting ones for another noun.

I have a spring bulb area of my garden that Id like to add some summer interest to and I love the Vista Snowdrift! But wondering if anyone has planted large annuals like these in amongst bulbs? I guess Im wondering if when I pull the annuals up in the fall, will the roots disrupt or dislodge the bulbs at all?

The hummingbird action I get with blue salvia is out of control! I've used cultivar black and blue by Proven Winners for past several years and the bird population has exploded. So I will continue with it ad infinitum. Thank you for all your hard work and advice.

In need of your opinion. We live in Zone 5b and we have a large area in our front yard that is really wet that Id love to put something thats pleasing to the eye. Whats something I could plant that loves moisture and will help soak the moisture up if anything?
