We used to have a Night Blooming Cereus, but it was a type of cactus. So, it sounds different than what your grandma had, but maybe there are other genera of Night Blooming Cereus. I am looking forward to planting gladiolas too. Thanks for the tip about planting them close together, I am going to try that for sure.

Danielle, I grew up as an American Expat kid overseas in the 60s-80s and YES, inpatients grew both in shade AND sunshine all over the place in the countries where we lived. We treated them sorta like dandelions because they would just pop up everywhere randomly - even in sidewalk cracks - full sun! :)

Good timing on planting the elephant ear bulbs. I just planted mine yesterday - I-d saved them from last year, but I hadn-t realized that they need a heat mat.
I always appreciate you developing your Grandma-s garden. I-d love to see a picture of her yard when it was in bloom. Thank you sharing.

I am always so inspired by these videos! I would love to recreate a circular garden in our front yard in memory of my mother's gardens. We used to have a pool in the backyard (12 foot round. My Dad made a wishing well in the middle and laid four paths to it. My mom had lots of flowers in the quadrants.

I had yellow flowers that would unfold at night with leaves just like dandelion, we just called them moonflowers. Thinking some sort of primrose. they open at night and die as the sun comes up, had a tuber like on it, hope this helps find what your looking for, let us know please

I'm in zone 7b/a and I noticed the other day that the elephant ears I planted last year in a pot are starting to emerge. I am so grateful for that. What are the orange flowers with the green tops on the stalks? They are beautiful!

Danielle, I plant my - ears in big vessels and place on stones around my above ground pool with containers of grass. It makes a fun tropical feel in this area of my property. In the fall, I remove and store for next year!

Ha ha, thanks for showing how to plant the elephant ear. Last year I planted mine upside down. Eventually the beautiful leaves emerged but it took a really long time. Loving the way your gardens are developing.

I have a flower (we call it evening primrose) that looks dandilionish and blooms at night. no scent but it is the absolutely the best to watch open. it is a lovely yellow color and sort of pops open

You might be referring to Night Scented Stock plant. I have not seen this one in person but have heard that it has the most amazing scent and blooms only at night.
