One of the reasons your cabin is so appealing to so many is the rustic, natural look. I think we were meant to be stewards of the land. Not to conquer the land with our asphalt, cement, and steel cities. As stewards, we should do no harm to Mother nature but rather blend in by using the natural materials she has provided all around us. You have done that by harvesting the lumber for your home off of your own land. I think some forget that you built this home alone as thousands of pioneers did before you. I think at least 75% of the human population would perish without their 24-hour cities. There are humans who go their entire lives without ever seeing or being in nature. Who has never smelled sweetgrass or the wonderful smell of green pine needles other than their pine tree air fresheners! The natural log surrounds the windows would stick out as being odd if you used conventional man-made building materials. By the way, are you a self-taught carpenter, or do you have prior experience?

Questions:
1. What's the fan on the top of the wood burner for? Blowing warm air from the surface into the rest of the cabin space?
2. How well do the windows hold up to the cold? That's a cool idea with the animal skins as a dual purpose curtain and insulator - but I see the windows looked pretty frosty, so I wasn't sure how well they keep out the cold?
3. The ice blocks from a previous episode: What do you use them for later? I see you use sawdust to prevent them from melting as fast, so I was curious what you use them for when you eventually use them.
4. What was the purpose of the copper backsplash in the kitchen? It looks nice, I just wasn't sure if there was a purpose beyond aesthetics.
5. How hard is it to keep the sink from turning green since it's copper?
I've really been enjoying your videos! Been binge watching them as much as I can, lol.

Why did you choose to use such dark vertical members? they look quite different from the sill and the top cross piece which are both very light colored. I would have expected you to shave off the dark outside surface of the wood on those verticals to match the light sill and cross piece. Any thoughts?

Out of all the amazing things I've watched you do over the last week than I've been binge watching the one thing I could never see myself doing is hand sawing EVERYTHING. You work harder sawing a few boards than most people do in a week. I'm addicted!

I recall having seen one of your videos in which you and some friends built some sort of a dome and covered the walls with tree bark. If you don't mind me asking, what was it for and what was the outcome of that structure?

As a German native speaker (amongst Dutch and English) and translator, I want to compliment you on the German translation of some of your videos like this one. Do you have a professional doing this for you?
