Spring is wild turkey season and the time to start harvesting food from the land for survival at the off grid cabin. My wife and I cook wild turkey for two meals, - braised turkey in the earthen oven and fried turkey fingers with homemade sauerkraut, homemade raw milk fresh cheese on bannock fried on the woodstove. I cut wing feathers for fletching on a set of arrows I'm making now that I'm renewing my passion for traditional archery. I finish the day planting spinach in the garden and fertilize with milk whey and ashes from the woodstove

I don't want to give you any additional advise, im sure you got a lot of knowledge. But i lived and hunt in Siberia for many years. Next time before you trying to pill the feathers of a bird, boil some hot water, stick a bird in it for few minutes, then pill those feathers of lot easier, they will almost be falling of them self.

Once you hunt the turkey you better cut his head immediately so all the blood comeout so it can be more healthy.
If you want to take off that things on his skin very fast put pour some hot water on it first
