I lift two heavy cross beam logs onto the top of the cabin and with the help of my daughter and wife, start our year of producing 3 million calories on the first day of spring by making maple syrup, starting seeds, expanding the growing beds in my geodesic greenhouse, making biochar and laying rotten wood for hugelkultur mounds in the forest garden. Very productive times. I'm curious, how does food get pollination while growing inside?
I suppose I could look it up but how do you do it?
Maybe that's why our local botanical gardens hatch butterflies and sell tickets for butterfly shows.
You have so much water around you. You could probably tap a well easily in both the green house and home.
I saw a simple one you pound into the ground, add another piece of pipe, pound it, add a piece as deep as needed then attach the pump

Food absolutely must come first in your situation, spring doesn t wait for anybody, on sunny days your dome probably feels like spring already. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for you to get the final logs in place for the walls, and possibly dig out the saw mill. Michigan is going to be in the teens this weekend with sleet, it has been wet here all week, better weather is just around the corner, can t wait to see the roof, all the best to you and your family.

Yes across the globe weather patterns are changing anfd them that have never had rain and now seeing deluge conditions, while in some parts that normally have rain this time of the year are looking to the clouds. Here right now in Scotland we are experiencing +14 deg C but at night it drops to close to zero, so intertchangeable. Cheers Shawn and Cali and Emily.

Good day to you Dr. James. With all you do, it is really something and all by yourself most of the time. You work on the cabin then your greenhouse then something else and on it goes. Quite a life you've cut out for yourself. For us, out here it is interesting and good entertainment. Thanks for it all Jimmy.

Self motivated, determination, perseverance, dedication, strength, courage and knowledge! One would think this is work, but in actuality this man with his love and passion for his end goal, does not think of it as so but a purpose for his own self achievement! You truely are the man Shawn

Spring is here Shawn! Exciting times. I can almost smell the maple syrup. So many things with this property that are absolutely game changers like the greenhouse, the basement, etc. Very cool to see your ideas come to life. Thanks for sharing and may you and yours be blessed.

5: 50 Seeing you take a drink of sap reminded me of my grandfather. He tapped a few trees in front of his house every spring. He kept a bottle of sap in his fridge to drink as a sort of spring tonic. First time I tried it I liked it.
Good memories. thank you sir.

So exciting to see this all coming together Shawn. I always flinch when I see you handling those huge logs overhead but you always seem to exercise caution. Thank you for the outstanding content. Its better than any fiction you could ever want to watch.

Looking like spring thaw is well on the way. a few cold days coming.
Was able to get back to my camp with my wheeler. a couple deep spots. But the Adirondacks are a little further south than you. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
